How bloggers usually get 90% or more of their traffic

When you're looking at a blog and think, "How do these guys get all their traffic" it's probably pretty crazy when you start to understand there are a few things they're doing every day that pulls in thousands of people.  Now, you may be doing the same things, but you may not be doing them as often or as well, so stay tuned and keep reading

When you start to write content without doing any research, you may think you have the best blog post on your hands that you could come up with.  The reality of this is that you may think it's great, but the masses of people who could be coming to your website might not. 

You'll need to do proper keyword research if you want to know what people are searching for, and then you'll need to target the keywords that aren't getting the most traffic right now.  Yes, you'll target the easier keywords, the ones that won't help you as much right now, and that's because they're easier to rank for, and you could still bring in a lot of people over time.

When you start writing your content, you should have the idea of writing everything you can about the topic and not setting a specific word count of 300, 500, or even 1,500 words per post.  You need to write until you get all the information typed up and not worry about how long it is.  If you can do this, you will usually have an article that is 2,000+ words long, and the majority of your readers will love it. 

Another thing you need to focus on is the structure of the article you're writing and how you can keep people moving down the page as they read.  Sure, they will naturally move down the page as they read the content, but you need to pull them down more and more until they hit the bottom of the page.  Use images, quotes, and formatting to keep everything interesting, and you'll see people stay on the page longer than they used to

Obtaining niche specific backlinks through guest posting
One of the best ways to get traffic, and backlinks for SEO, is to do guest posting on niche relevant websites.  This is where you offer up a very well written article for a website or blog to use as their own and, you get to place a backlink in it to your website.  This will help you with your search engine rankings, send a little traffic your way when people click on it, and help brand you as an authority within your industry over time

If you can do enough of these, and get plenty of backlinks, you will see plenty of traffic flowing to your website for a majority of your keywords

Bloggers all do one thing, on page optimization, and that's one of the main ways they pull in traffic.  You can do every off-page tactic you know of and not pull in a single visitor from the search engines.  If you pair off-page and on-page tactics strategically, as many SEO companies do, you will see a spike in traffic that will likely stay consistent if you keep up the good work
