Write the reason you're deleting this FAQ
Content generation isn't the most difficult thing to do when it comes to websites, but it is one of the main things that will pull people into your site and keep them there, so you need to do it well. Whenever I'm writing content for myself or a client, I will always start with a basic structure of what I want to write about, and I'll fill in the blanks with information, statistics, images, etc. until I'm thoroughly happy with it.
Your content needs to have a purpose for it to hit big with your audience, otherwise, it will simply rank for random keywords and not funnel massive amounts of traffic to your website. We all know that content is king, and what a lot of people don't talk about is that your content needs to be written with a purpose in mind.
Write Guides and Tutorials for Your Readers
Whenever you're writing something as detailed as a guide or tutorial, you'll want to take your time, and this is because you want to make sure everything is done perfectly. You don't want to skip much when writing a guide or tutorial because it should be able to be used as a walkthrough for someone to set up a website, design their first piece of art with photoshop, set up their first service here, or anything else you decide to publish.
Tutorials and guides shouldn't have a set amount of words you're targeting because they will be more than your average article. Think about it; you're adding tons of images, content, statistics, etc. to give someone a step by step process of how to do something. If your guide is "How to log into your account," then it will be short, but those types of guides don't bring home the bacon, so expect your guide to be at least a few thousand words long when it's done.
Write Content to Help Users Troubleshoot a Problem
There are always problems that seem to be consistent among users when they come across a new website. Look at this marketplace, and the new theme, plenty of people had problems when it was first live, but now there aren't as many discussions about where to go and how to do something because of all the help that has been handed out in the form of discussions and responses.
If you can write up something similar to a tutorial, but have it done in a way that helps someone with a problem they can't figure out, you will get a decent amount of traction with the article. The content doesn't have to be about your website, it can be about something a lot of people use, and it will still gain a decent amount of traction and bring people to your website.
Write Content Covering Niche-Specific News Topics
Many people write about general news and don't target smaller niches, and that's because big news brings in big money. You could build your following by targeting those smaller, more niche news releases and do an overview on your website to pull people in.
After you publish the article, you can then go on social media and announce the post, and you will likely get some traction this way. If you grow big enough, you will become the main source of information for the niche, and that's never a bad thing lol.
Optimize While You Write
I shouldn't have to say this, but I will, you need to optimize your content as you're writing it, so you don't waste time going back and editing what you did 6+ months ago. Sure, the search engines might change something and drastically affect your content, which would mean you have to edit all your articles, but this is highly unlikely due to the backlash they would get from every single website owner in the world lol.
Take a few extra minutes and optimize your content. Google will thank you, your readers will thank you, and your bank account will love you if everything goes right!
Final Thoughts,
The content you publish on your website needs to have more of a purpose than "It's there to get top rankings and make me money" if you want to be successful. Take time writing your content, and it will come to pay you back tenfold later on down the road
Thanks for reading!
