You don't hear many people talking about how they've done well using Snapchat ads, and I think it's because not many people know they can use them. Most people think they're going to promote to make more money, but that's not the only reason you should be advertising.
Are you building up your brand?
A lot of companies will get their Snapchat ads running to help brand their newer products or their business. It's a quick way to get in front of a ton of people, and that's why it works well for branding.
Are you trying to gain more readers/followers?
You can push people directly to your social media pages or groups to get them to follow you so you can advertise for free to them through your posts later on.
Are you testing ads?
A lot of people will go all-in on one ad and thinks it's fantastic but, in reality, they should be in a testing phase and try out multiple ad styles to see what works best.
Understand the Ad formats and test them
Like I mentioned above, you'll need to be testing out many different ad formats if you want to get the most significant ROI. If you're using stories to push your advertisements, you may be missing out on a lot of traffic, sales, and followers through other means that Snapchat offers.
Try out each style of advertising, not just stories, and see which of these brings in the best return. Get a little crazier and split test multiple ad styles into each of the options and see what you can get in the end
Put a smile on someone's face
Advertising on snapchat isn't "Here's my product, now go buy it!" because people are on there to see gossip, something funny, and necessarily get some additional information about something they knew nothing about.
If you can set your ad up just right, so it puts a smile on someones face you will get a higher click-through rating and notice your followers increasing as well as your sales.
If you can put a smile on someones, face you will work with their subconscious and tell them you're a friendly, fun, and fantastic company to purchase from. Do this, and you will likely have a good ad on your hands
Learn from other peoples mistakes
I don't have to tell you to Not to jump off a building, Not to swim with sharks during a feeding frenzy, and Not to replicate someone's ad that wasn't working for them because you know those are things you shouldn't do.
The sad thing is that people will commonly try to replicate an ad that isn't working because it was pushed by a more prominent company.
Instead, watch the ads and see how much engagement they're getting, how likely you are to click through on your own, and how you feel about the ad itself. If everything seems to be going well for the ad, try to copy it a little bit and see what happens for your attempt at dominating Snapchat advertising
In the end, there isn't an exact science to advertising on Snapchat because you're putting timed pictures in front of a massive group of people. Someone's emotions at the time will dictate how they react to the ad itself, making it a little harder to understand how something is working, so be sure just to watch your click-through rates and conversions to get the best idea if something is working or not.
