Which O.S. do you prefer Windows vs Android?

I can't help thinking since the majority of the world's population are using Smartphones to access the internet, would this lead to the eventual downfall of Windows and would Android become the new king.

In all honesty I think Windows is on its way out. Windows phones have been a flop and besides it's too complicated compared to a user friendly Android Smartphone. PC sales is going down while smartphone and phablets are going up, a testament to the users preferred choice of gadget for online use.

I disagree. Windows will continue to live on until another OS replaces it (MacOS is just too limited and expensive) or if Linux becomes more user-friendly. (Windows Phones are an exception, those are horrible)

The PC's primary use is to do pretty much anything, not to surf the web or play games. Sure, a smartphone might be able to allow watching media or to access social media, but can it create a program or to create complicated video effects using powerful video editing programs like Sony Vegas Pro? I think not. Can it utilize CAD programs like AutoCAD or Tekla Structures? Heck no. The PC can still fulfill many things that a smartphone cannot.

I disagree to disagree, haha. I don't think anyone will be managed to replace Windows, as we have seen so many come and go (like Mac, Linux and etc). To be honest with you, all these innovations fail to capture the heart of the audience.

The main reason why I think Linux still has the potential to overtake Windows if it becomes more user-friendly is because it's simple (if you look past the extremely basic programming knowledge you need to use it haha).

No bloatware (looking at you Windows 10), free-to-use, updated by a loving and passionate community, relatively performs better, and can be modified by an advanced user for more complicated tasks (which are useful for businesses). Both useful for casual users and advanced users alike.

Your answer is far from the question. If you insist is right, I think yes but if base on the gadgets you mentioned in every specified o.s. but the question only is which o.s you prefer in smartphone?

I think, windows will still be on the market. They know and understand competition. They will always have innovations and improvement to their products. Besides, smartphone maybe a leading edge these days but there are still features that only windows provide. A lot of people, still prefer to use computers for much load of work. I think, both gadgets are useful depending on the users outlook.

I agree with you I really doubt windows going extinct because people think likes window festures. I for one really like windows and use it alot too. So there will always be innovations to meet with cutting edge technology.

Yes, Microsoft Windows is built with credibility and earned their reputation for so many years. It's been trusted and most reliable. It takes a lot of creativity, invention and innovation to produce one product to defeat it's prestige. No wonder Bill Gates never lose his fame and power. His work is remarkable.

Personally I think Windows will always outlast everyone, it's like a mighty Roman empire or Golden Horde during our century. I'm not an Android user, always been a Windows one, and overall it seems like Windows is by far easier to understand and learn.

Yes, I agree with you. A house is useless without a window. So, as a computer without an operating software It can't be use. ( Ha.Ha.Ha) Kidding aside, it's one of the best software used by people. It contributes convenience of work and has been of good performance.

Linux distributions have always been there and are highly preferred by specialists who like to program and handle data. I'd say Windows is more oriented to the general consumer and Linux towards developers.

Right! People are used to using Windows, it's been here for a long time now so I don't think it's on it's way to its downfall. Much like Facebook... despite all of the data breaches, Cambridge Analytica scandal, lots of new social networks tried to compete with Facebook but it's still the biggest social network.

I agree with this. They maybe not entertained by the customers when they make those mobile phones because of the better offers of the competitors but when it comes to PC, they wouldn't be replace by any other brand since they exist a very long time ago and the reputation and trust wouldn't be replace by any other brands.

Yes, I agree with you. Windows will never be out of the market. They know and understand the world of competition. They will always be competitive. Their innovations are improving as costumers expected it to be.

You can never really dethrone the PC as the king of technology. No matter what, Windows will always be one of the most used O.S. especially as the PC can do a number of things that smartphones cannot do and will always be used by businesses because they really need Windows (or Linux for tech businesses) to function well.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

When it comes to technology the PC definitely can't be dethroned. The fact still remains that alot computerised workload function effectively with Windows os than any other.

I've tried a Windows phone and honestly didn't like it that much. I still prefer Androids. But that's only on mobile devices. Windows on PC and laptops is still the best choice. I don't think Windows will ever reach that downfall you mentioned. Even with iOS available for PC, Windows is still pretty strong.

I think more and more we’re seeing a trend towards android devices. I don’t know if windows will be completely phased out - so many businesses and such use Windows as their operating system so I can’t see it disappearing anytime soon!

I'm using Windows OS for my laptop. The programs that I'm using runs on windows platform. When it comes to OS for desktop/PC, I don't think Windows will be phased out because of android. It's been so long since Windows OS got its giant competitors, linux and Mac Os, but still Windows is the most used OS for desktop/PC.

I believe that Android O. S. is more often used in most smartphones since it is user friendly than the Windows O. S. However, when it comes to laptop or PC, that's a different story. I believe that Windows is still the leading Operating System used in PC's and in laptops. So I don't see any sign of downfall for the Windows as of this moment.

Windows phones might be a flop but windows is still very much the king when it comes to computers. No matter how popular smart phones are, I don't think they'll totally overshadow the PC (at least not for many years to come). Windows will continue to improve and stay relevant

To be completely honest with you, I was intrigued by Android, but never actually touched. And didn't have the chance either. I mean as of devices in our house we have a: PC, Laptop, iPad (old one), and two cellphones (HTC). None can have Android installed, so no clue.

I know andriod os has been trending and almost everyone is titling towards it but one thing we need to know is that some things are just evergreen as in classic, there are ever there despite new technologies or innovations and this is where windows belong. There are in no competition but will always be around for a very long time.

Windows will not replace Android OS, so long as innovator would continuously seek to improve it's current functionality. While Android OS is still in a standstill in the market because it has grown users to an increasing record, it's functionality remains limited. There are office related work which requires functionality unsupported by Android OS like AutoCad, a function that cannot be rival by Android OS in the market.

Android is made for the mobile phone. There was an attempt to make it desktop OS. But that failed with Remix OS failing. In case of Windows, it works only on desktop as of now. The mobile port has been cancelled now. So the Android seems to be only limiting at the phone and the desktop is still the windows area of expertise.

I think that most of the time I am using windows when working on my freelancing sites as I feel more secure and convenient about it. I find using windows more easier and comfortable as I can do some multi tasking without any further a do. It is nice to use windows because I was already used to it for a longer period of time already.

It depends on your usage. Me personally would suggest you to get an Android phone now. Android was primarily designed for portable devices that had a limited memory, processing power and power supply. Windows on the other hand has been designed to work as an OS that serves almost all needs by utilizing higher amount of memory, processing power and power supply.

Windows for PC Desktops and Laptops will never be replaced in my opinion. Sure the phone is really convenient for accessing the internet and Android has proven itself to be the more popular and more used OS in smartphones but it's usage is limited.

We will need Windows for more complicated operations, specially for business related processes and calculations. Making presentations, editing worksheets online, and uploading data and information can be easily done with Windows. On the other hand, doing these processes will be hard when only using your phone because of the limited screen size, processing power and ease of use. And I think being the pioneer of technology, Windows will further improve and will never be outdated.

I think android because there are so many android apps that have no restriction which a good example of an OS but in windows there are some restricted app, maybe because of security reason that's why there are so many restrictions but if you question what OS I should prefer maybe you need to study more about that.

Well, I think that both Windows and Android will survive.Android is basically meant for portable devices like Mobile phones and it does work very efficiently in case of these devices. Windows on the other hand is the most popular OS , when it comes to Computers. I don't think that Windows will ever loose its relevance in the coming days.

Right. They're are far different from each other. It's still iOS vs Android and Mac OS vs Windows. But Chrome OS has been doing its thing for quite some time now but I'm not sure if it's gonna get as big as Mac OS & Windows.

For now, the king is android and i prefer this too because is user friendly (e.g. many apps can fit its o.s) but in the market no one can be permanently on the top. Actually, i believe the windows can do some more innovation and improvements to make them be a king.

Do you mean Windows Mobile? I thought this OS was deprecated and out of the market. Lumia phones used to operate with Windows Phone. I owned one and the performance and feel were nice, but the limited potential was obvious compared to Android since the apps available were too few. If I'm not mistaken, Lumia phones started adopting Android OS recently.

Android is far better for smartphones at the moment. It's user-friendly, and it makes app creation a whole lot easier for me. Windows never really caught on, as far as I can tell.

But if you mean as an access point? I'd say that I still prefer Windows as an operating system for my internet-surfing needs. My laptop is an older model, but it can hold a lot more than my phone case. And it's a little more difficult to steal since it's usually out of sight.

I had both Android and Windows based smartphones. Android is simpler to use. Interface is better and more user-friendly. Also, there are many options to customize your Android device. Windows is poor when it comes to app support but overall, it is more reliable system than Android.

Microsoft should do what Android is doing, they should make windows more user friendly. In all honesty I think Windows OS on PC is so complicated that it always make me think, why don't they make it simpler. An Android smartphone or phablet can do 80 percent of what a PC could do and it's so simple to use. Time will come that a smartphone can do everything a PC can and this I think would make windows obsolete.

Nice arguments. My question would be what can an android PC do ? Is there an android PC? I've never seen one. And if there is one, it must not be that good because its not that popular. I have a windows PC and a windows phone. A windows phone is much faster than an android, so guys I beg to differ. I don't think that windows OS is going anywhere. This is a matter of lanes, let android stick to phones and tablets and windows to PCs.

Windows may not be significant in the smartphone arena, but in the PC space, it still holds a commanding share of the market. Nevertheless, I do believe that more and more smartphone manufacturers will have Android as their OS as its less expensive and customizable based on their respective requirements.

As we can see, it is very evident that the Android OS are dominating the portable devices like smartphones and tablets. However, when it comes to PC's and laptops, I don't think that Android can match up the Windows in that arena.

When it comes to computers and laptops, Windows is preferable because of the wide array of functions it can carry. It is also the most widely-used operating system for computers and laptops, yet less popular for its smartphones. When it comes to smartphones, Android is very preferable. Android is an operating system which is very user-friendly. Also, it is the operating system commonly used in almost all smartphones used by people so a lot of them are very familiar with it.

If you mean by the comparison of Windows vs Android I guess you have missed the news that Windows Phones have no more support from Microsoft. It is sad that there are now only 2 operating systems for phones which are the Android by Google and iOs by Apple. Maybe Windows Phones lacked the promotion because some people do not even know that there is such an operating system.
