Is there any site to publish poems?

Publishing and printing any book or poems in hard copies requires a lot of money and not everyone can afford to pay such even if they have something so good written.  I'm well aware that some people have taken to online sphere to publish their books and have copyright but I'm not sure which particular online website where one can successfully publish his or her poems. I'm looking forward to having your recommendations.

Yes there are many sites out there that you can publish your own poem like Wattpad. Making your own blog is also a good one but it take times to get more traffic on it so I recommend Wattpad. Wattpad is a composition network which has a huge number of readers. That way you can have your innovative work accessible for more extensive crowd inside limited capacity to focus time. You should simply make a record and begin posting. Besides, it gives highlights like vote, remark, pursue.

Well, I have published poems as a book, on my blog as well as on a couple of third party writing site. However, I have never used wattpad. Can you please elaborate more on wattpad. For instance, can we monetize our works or is this just a free publishing site where you are not compensated.

I don't really know if there are sites that publishes poem. My daughter was having school assignment about making a poem about love for language. When I searched from google there are poems that appeared but only a few.

I think this shows that there is a gap in the market. If you went searching and got a disappointment then the individual who creates such a platform may reap a lot from people who have experienced the same disappointment.

Well, there are already a lot of sites where you can publish poems and even earn by publishing poems. I am not talking about poetry magazines where your poem poems need approval for publishing. I am am talking about user generated content sites where you can publish poems and even monetize your poems. You can try Hubpages. I have published a lot of poems on hubpages. By the way you can also make a video of reading poem and publish on youtube.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I have heard of hubpages and tried it for an article. I remember there were several comments and contributions and as such I would advice that it is a credible site. Great one about reading out your own poems aloud and making a video of it.

Hubpages is an amazing community. You can not only hone your writing skills and receive feedback but also earn from your writing. I have published a lot of stories and poems on hubpages. I have also created poetry video, but I never published them on youtube. I published my poetry videos on hubpages. The experience was great

Wow, great of you. It is funny how a majority of the people here have been to the common writing sites and have actually had an experience that they can share. It shows the depth of experience as well as dedication to the hustle that we all have.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

It is common for people to flit between the sites, whether it is a freelancing site or earning site. On SEO Clerk, I can identify many people from other site. A person who is basically earning by writing has probably heard of hubpages of not published on the site. The person who posts on paid to post forums is already on Postloop. When you are into online earning, you will be a part of the site that are popular.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I agree my friend. If you are a keen hustler in the online freelancing world then you will get to interact and identify people on numerous other sites that you have a common interest in.

Wattpad has lot of plagiarists. And it can be seriously bad to publish the stories and the poems there. I have had some stories lost there. And those people just copy and post on books and other places. They take the credit. So it can be seriously bad in that case.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
That's scary. It's really disheartening to find out about that. I didn't know they weren't careful with copyright protection. I guess that's one factor to consider. So many people are desperate to make money from stealing your writing.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

overcast
I found out that on some of the publishing sites like say wordpress and typepad. And that place once people told me that it's always better to post the content in the book. That way you can see that by publishing under book we can avoid the plagiarism and other issues. Thats what I have noticed.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
I'm thankful for your advice on Wattpad. I guess it comes to down to basics. If something sounds too good to be true, then it probably is. I hope others think well before deciding to publish their stories there. It would be a great shame to have written something good only to have it stolen.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I think if you have some content that you don't mind getting copied. Then I think it's better to use mirakee and instagram. That way you don't end up making the wrong type of the content. I think poetry publishing may be a good option in that case on instagram.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

vinaya
Well, I have not tried wattpad. However, I can tell you plagiarism is every where. Your works can be stolen from any sites, or even when you publish on magazines and newspapers. My print and online works have been stolen many times. IN the beginning I used to file DMCA, contact the thief to remove stolen content, write to the site where it is published. However, these days I no longer care.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
It's really sad to know that. It feels like the world is full of people who use others to get what they want. We're all guilty of needing others to some extent.

But stealing intellectual property is a different story.

In a way, people who've experienced a lot of this tend to ignore it just like you. You won't get anywhere other than stressing yourself out in trying to get justice. So it's better to move on and be more cautious in the future.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

vinaya
I have a pretty depressing case. Once I discovered my work on a site posted on another person's name. I joined the site and asked the author to remove the content. There wa no reply. I reported to the site admin, there was no answer. The site where my stolen work was published (the article is still there) is operated by a trusted Media company in India.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
Oh no! I'm so sorry about that. It really speaks volumes about how other people treat writing. They only see it as a means to an end.

I hope you never experience anything like that ever again. Writers deserve to have their content respected and valued. This is why many here suggest to publish your articles where someone can help you prevent it from being stolen.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

vinaya
I still have over a dozen articles stolen and published on other sites with other names. In the beginning, I worried very much. However, these days I do not care much. Search engines like Google penalizes the site that publish stolen content. By stealing contents and publishing om their own name, these people are harming their own site. No just articles, even my images have been stolen. I used to publish my own images along with articles, however, I have stopped doing that owing to image theft.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I was actually thinking of publishing my poems there. Glad that I read this and was warned. Plagiarism is very rampant nowadays that people with no conscience disregard the risk of copying someone else's work. It's sickening and alarming at the same time.

Thanks for the information. I haven't known that there are sites out there that you can publish your own poem in wattpad. Wattpad is a composition network with large audience or readers.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Thanks for recommending the site Wattpad, I'm definitely going to try it out but what I'm worried about is that if it's secure to publish my poems on the site and avoid it being copied and pasted or published in another site.

A lot of people's works have been subject to copy and paste. This hurts like hell when someone copies your work without giving you credit for it.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
That's true. It's so easy for them to take credit for what you've written. They seem to be doing it on purpose. They want to get the benefits of your hard work without putting in the effort.

So it would be in our best interest to avoid publishing stuff we can make into a book. Because we have more control over our work when it's made in book form.

If i were you and if you have good skills to write some interesting poems, then i wouldn't go for publishing printed books or publishing it somewhere as articles. Your best shot would be to make your own ebooks, even with few poems, then you have great opportunity to sell them anywhere, starting from here on seoclerks, ebay, amazon thousands of other places on internet. It could build nice income for you and you wouldn't need to worry about shipping because downloadable products are easy to deliver. Ne expenses for printing etc... Btw, ebooks are future!

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

EfficientNinja
I agree. Going the ebook route with poems seems to be the better choice compared to writing a blog or article about the poem. Collecting or composing a large number of poems then publishing them as ebooks would be profitable.

I also agree that ebooks are the future because I am more inclined to read on an iPad compared to reading the actual paperbound book. It is cheaper and it is convenient to carry and read anywhere.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Youngshark
Ebooks are the thing currently and when you have the right expertise you will generate a lot of cash. I think though that one should test out their content on a site where they post some of their works to see how well they are received.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

anyone01
You may feel that it is smarter to fence your choices by going the independently publishing ebooks. Luckily this is presently especially less expensive and less demanding than it used to be and the last outcome is substantially more palatable. There are a lot of sites which offer this, however remember you should watch out for your work, as there will be no supervisor to ensure that it is proofread.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Youngshark
This is a good option and as long as one is great in their writing and they have a keen editing eye they can take such a route. My question is on the security fo works that you upload to the site since there are numeorus cons on the internet who may steal it.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

jeffreyjose48
I agree with you. If you have good writing skills, you should go for publishing printed books or articles. The best shot is to make your own eBook.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Publishing company is quite expensive for the starters. I think it will cost you a lot if you will go there by yourself. You need someone who can sponsor and do partnership to your plans like a business so that your poem will be published.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Seriously? I wasn't aware that it's possible to sell poems on the SEOClerks community. I have seen a lot of services being sold on the platform but I haven't seen anything like poems being offered up for sale.

How would I go about getting to put it up for sale? Do I have to do it as an ebook?

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

mark8625
So do I, I have no idea that it could be. If that is true, I would try to write poem and sell it in SEO. I think much better to find someone who can finance your poem and go to the publisher for the production of your poem.

I agree with you. If he is really good, he got a better shot in that, than sending his works in paid magazines and such. Also, he can try posting it online and try maybe a publishing company hire him.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

You have lot of options. Like say poetry.com seems to be one place. But your content may get stolen. If you want to copyright and other legal things. Then write a book and have it in. Because most of the social media sites have stealers who steal content of others. I have also seen some people posting their content on the WordPress. And for them it works out. Another thing is that you can try some of the poetry specific forums too.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Because of the safety of the works, I agree with you that the poster going ahead to write a book is a better choice instead of having to upload it on a site where it is going to get stolen.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Yes stealing is pretty common. And people should be really understanding on the point of the poems. Copyright is always an issues because people don't easily see it and they may copy. So it's better to make use of the kindle or maybe smashwords too.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I wonder why people even do that. Social media is filled with people take others for granted. Now this comes in the form of plagiarized content. I'm dumbfounded by their audacity to do such awful stuff.

I'll take your suggestion into consideration. I hope others too. Putting your content in a book is much safer than posting it online.

I don't know if they are any people left that enjoy poetry but wonders never cease. I just recently discovered poetry. When I was in school I really used to hate it because I never used to understand it. I think it depends on whether you want to publish individual pieces or a whole book on poetry. You can self publish and see how it goes. You can try on Amazon with a sample of your poems, if this does well you can publish more.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

When I was in school, even though I had general interest in literature, I did not like poetry. I began writing daily journal at the age of 14. When my father discovered my diary, he said my poems were good. I was not aware that I was already writing poem. I began reading poems only when I published my poetry books. Publishing poetry books is the best option for poets because you can make money from your books.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I think money is not much there in the poetry. Instead the poetry is more useful in the stand up side. Like say those competition and the good places where the poetry has a place. I know some of those places where the poetry can be sold in terms of the events.

I just discovered poetry when I was in high school. Honestly, I'm not gifted with such amazing skills to write poems but I love reading them. It is wonderful that a single line has a lot of meanings. I am amazed by the wide range of emotions and thoughts of the writer. I know that some lines can be hard to understand but there are reliable resources where you can find their real meaning.

Wattpad seems like a possible place to publish poems. It's filled with lots of readers interested to find new content. But getting a following there can be difficult. The challenge comes with the fact that the most favored content is fan fiction.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

+1 to this. It is a well-known social story-telling platform that caters to users from all over the world. I'm just not sure if content uploaders get paid with the things they post.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

ajahcuizon
I don't think they are paid for posting their stories and poems. But there are some stories that requires payment to continue reading. Some got famous and read by so many people then made it to the big screen or some even showed in the television. You just have to create a story that could capture the attention of the readers.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Wow, that's great. Imagine you started at Wattpad and it turned into a TV series. And if someone needs to pay to continue reading, then I guess the uploader gets paid as well, right?

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
That's the cool thing about Wattpad. You don't really need to write an amazing story. You just have to write something that certain readers will obsess over. Like how fans go crazy over boy bands.

The producers only care about it being marketable. If they can make money off it, then you're likely going to get paid if they like your work.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I hope you succeed. I just want to share that it can be very difficult to gain attention there. Most of the readers are very particular with their preferred stories.

Like I said, a majority of stuff there is fanfiction. But there also original works gaining tons of following.

The obvious solution is to engage fellow writers and readers. Join the community. Be active and friendly. It will go a long way towards improving your chances of gaining genuine readers who support your work.

I like how you said that. Keep up the positive mindset. Nothing is impossible. Just know that you will need to write an awesome story to actually succeed.

It helps to write as often as you can. Because at the end of the day, you can edit it and improve on what you've started.

It sure is challenging to write about something to compel potential readers from reading it. But as for me, it's best to write about something that a lot of people can relate to or is somehow relevant to their lives. The only problem is knowing what that is, LOL. All the best my friend!

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I'm with you on that one. Honestly, I still haven't written much for a few years now. I guess I lack the much needed motivation to write consistently.

That's why I'm working on writing a few hundred words at a time. Progress is progress.

You won't get to where you want to go if you never start writing. It's easy to forget how fast a year goes by. LOL!

Yes, the uploader gets paid since he had the authority over his written story. It is like you're now a writer and scriptwriter of your own television series. Most of the reader from Wattpad were teenagers, that's why the most of the stories were about love and fictional stories. It is really a great place indeed for aspiring writers.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
You know what, I just visited Wattpad. And I'm happy to share their new beta program. It's called Wattpad Next. It will allow readers to support their beloved authors.

Writers will now be able to earn money through Wattpad. How amazing is that? It's so cool that they've decided to experiment with the idea of monetizing their site.

Now aspiring writers will be more determined to start sharing their stories. I'm definitely interested to join.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

That's good to hear that they opened a platform where readers can follow and support their writers. On that way, writers can loyal readers and take good care of them by writing more stories. Having supporters is really a great big help for them to be successful. Good thing that Wattpad created such site that could benefit them and their writers.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
Yes, it is famous. Some might even say infamous with regards to writing quality and proofreading. Most readers have somehow gotten used to their bad grammar and frequent typographical errors.

They just want something to read. Reading to them is like a quick cup of coffee. It doesn't have to be quality work. Especially, since it's free.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

jaybee19
Totally agree. Wattpad is a good platform for aspiring story tellers/writers and I know a lot of wattpad writers who have already published their books and some even have their stories adapted to TV Shows or Movies. However, just like what you said, it's very hard to get a following there because of the preferred content most readers want and I myself encountered that when I attempted to write stories as well.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

NerdIndeed
I believe it's best to publish your content on a popular social media platform first to at least get traffic. Facebook is one great site where you can post your content, create a Facebook page and distribute your poems from there. The moment you acquire an ample amount of following, offer your services to newspapers and magazines.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Using the popular sites such as Facebook and the rest is a good way to make readers get to know more about you and the work that you offer. However, we should be careful to ensure that our work is not stolen as well.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

NerdIndeed
That's excellent advice for us all. In today's world of modern technology, it is so easy to copy and plagiarize someone else's work and make it their own. Is there a way to avoid this?

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
I suggest avoiding sites where you're wary of your work being stolen. You should be confident with where you post your work. So if you're not sure, then it's likely not secure enough for your writing.

One famous quote is about health. But I find that it also applies to a lot of stuff in life. Prevention is better than cure.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

NerdIndeed
That is an excellent way to put it. Prevention is indeed much better than cure. But what I have in mind is something different. Like for example, with photographers. There are some sites where they have some system in place not allowing visitors from right-clicking on a photo to prevent them from saving it (right-click disabled websites). Is there a site like that for writers too?

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
I think so. I've seen blogs where that's the case. There are simple measures that prevent stuff from easily being stolen. But the obvious issue is to never underestimate someone who's motivated.

If they really want to steal your work, they'll find ways of doing so. It may take some time and yet I'm sure they'll get what they want.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

NerdIndeed
Yes, of course. If someone's very determined and extremely eager to steal it from you, they surely will. Do you mind sharing the simple measures you mentioned above to prevent others from stealing it?

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
One way is to prevent copy paste. It's the quickest method most people use to steal someone else's writing. I think there's a feature like this in other blogs and sites.

Simple preventive measures don't really stop them from stealing your work. It only slows them down since they'll have to manually copy your work or use another program.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

NerdIndeed
I see, then I guess there is absolutely no sure fire way to stop potential thieves from getting a piece of your work. Thanks, man!

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
You're welcome. This could be why many have chosen to publish their works as eBooks than in forums and websites.

It also helps to build a following. That way, people will know that it's your work even if someone else claims it as theirs.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
I like your idea. I suggest we focus on marketing for social media platforms. It's kind of risky to post them there for fear of being stolen. Even well-known writers are picky when it comes to where they put their written works.

Here are some of the options to choose. I am sharing these based on my own experience.
You can create a poetry blog and publish poems.
You can compile your poems and publish createspeace or kindle book. It is free to publish and you can generate revenue from the sales.
You can publish on website. I have published a lot of poems on hubpages. These days hubpages has a different niche site for publishing poetry and stories,

When I read the title of this thread the first thing that came to my mind is Wattpad. There many sites where you can publish your stories and poems but here in our country, Wattpad is such a great place for posting writings. There are some stories from Wattpad that became famous, some.even made it into the bigscreen. But as I said, there are a lot of platforms you can engage to. Like Facebook, you can create a page or join one and share your poems.

It's really a gamble when you decide to publish your work in Wattpad. It's best for writing that you're okay with possibly being copied. Stuff you've worked hard on is more suitable for publishing as books. You'll have more security and creative control when you publish it as your own eBooks.

I have tried publishing my poems on Word Press, Wattpad and on my social media accounts. Those are good avenues for aspiring poets, you'll get encouragement and help from different people and your friends. However, I didn't get as many responses as I imagined, maybe because of either of these reasons: my poems were not great or poems were not of their interest anymore.

That's really sad. It's true that we're often worrying too much. We should focus more on the quality of our work. The more we put effort on our poems, the better they become. Getting the right target audience is also essential to gaining exposure for our written work.

Honestly I’d say start an Instagram account! Two poets I know of (Rupi Kaur and Tyler Knott Gregson) have accounts on there and have a great deal of followers - in the millions and hundreds of thousands respectively! Social media can be a great platform for those works.

Instagram is great too. It's an excellent platform to popularize your content. What I notice is that quotes or poems related to life in general easily gets popular. Like the handle @thegoodquote, all they do is share positive quotes every single day. They have 14.7M followers and has a good engagement ratio, that's one ideal example of how powerful it can be.

I would suggest creating an eBook about your poetry, more so if you have a good number of original poetry already written. The market for poetry based ebooks are quite big, there's a lot of people looking for a collection of good poetry.

You have several options at your disposal. Make them into Ebooks. They will still be published online.

You can publish them in print. It can be expensive but it will fetch you money in loyalties. Go for them.

If it is just publishing then publish on any site online. Hubpages publishes poems.

You can make your own website and publish them

This thread makes me wow. You know, it is already rare to find a trend in the social media that focuses poems. Honestly, it feels like that poems are old school in today's generation. But well, I believe there are still people who appreciates written poems very much. And for those people who are still into poem writing and are still passionate about the art of poems... you have my admiration. Because you know people nowadays are tend to prefer direct conveying of messages in writings.

Poems can be an acquired taste. Not everyone will appreciate them. What's important is that we work towards those who do. We can gain their support through heartfelt written poems. Such that speak truths so deep and encompassing that they must read it again and again.

That's how successful modern poets succeed. The factor of being able to be read again without losing interest is a must.

I feel like poetry is having a bit of a resurgence to be honest. Back when i was at high school about 15 years ago, poetry was still considered as a dated, traditional thing, and we would have to read old poetry as part of our class curriculum.

Its nice to see it having a bit of a comeback though - it’s a beautiful way to express onself.

Well, you don't necessarily have to find a place online where you can publish your poems.

I believe you want to make money from your writing so if you can use your skills elsewhere to make that money it's not all that bad, is it?

I would suggest taking a look at greeting card companies. Since you write poems I'm sure you can create something greeting card companies will be willing to pay for and from what I've heard, you can make quite a lot of money from this.

Give it a stab.

Oh, that's interesting. I like your idea of applying for gift card creators. Have you seen the movie 500 Days of Summer? I believe the protagonist had a job there. It was really sad to see him disillusioned at the very end.

It was shown that he made a decent living out of making hallmark cards and the likes. Perfect place for people who write poems.

I honestly dont know if there is a site that can publish the poems. Maybe there is but have no idea which site that would be. I will definitely try to find if there is existing.

I feel like it's more difficult to find sites for poems. Poetry is a very specific type of writing. So not everyone is able to participate in it. The great thing is that Google can easily show us different options.

One website is called Hello Poetry. They have lots of poems there. Even classics like Ernest Hemingway.

I think that also compared to books. Books is easy to find a site where we can able to publish our books there. I have not seen a book composed of all poems even before.

You can check out Lang Leav. She's really famous for her writing. In fact, she's gone on a book tour in the Philippines. She really appreciates her Filipino fans. They support her so passionately.

Another plus factor is the quality of her writing. She doesn't only write beautiful poems. She uses words in a way that reveals the deepest truths and emotions in human beings.

That's why many can relate to her writing. It sings with so much honesty and goodness.

There are sites that accept submissions, but it will take months to get an answer from them. Also, there rate are very low so it's better make your own ebook and sell it on Amazon or anywhere.

When you get accepted to those two lunch-ish breaks which vary with the one that was just returned. It should be tighter enough.

That's true. Most writers don't have the time to wait for a response if it takes that long. In fact, they've found more success going to independent publishing. They earn higher royalty rates along with more copyright protection. All you need is a finished book and good marketing along with the right target readers.

I agree. A simple Google search will yield many answers. But the thing to consider is whether you're okay with it being shared by others. I hope people don't plagiarize their content. It's something that happens a lot on the internet.

I think you should try publishing these type of literary works to social media sites through an account first, may be in Facebook or Instagram. As we all know these two are great and widely-used platforms, gaining readers won't be a problem. I've seen a lot of authors start from a simple facebook page, and now they already have published hardcopies of their books. I personally love to read poems, and I get to read good ones on Facebook.

I guess they're just worried about copyright issues. Lots of people are capable of stealing their works. Especially, if it's incredibly well-written. You need to protect something you've worked hard on.
