When you're trying to build strategic relationships with people, you should never cut out your competitors because they can actually turn into some of your biggest help.  Most people look at their competitors as a person or website that should be avoided, but that's the exact opposite of what you should be doing!  You should encourage your competitors to talk with you, learn who you are and what your goals are, and this way they will begin to open up about themselves and you can actually team up on future projects.

From a website to a Fortune 500 company. The thing that amazes me is that some businesses insist that they don't need a website. Well! If you have no plans to become a Fortune 500 company then you could probably get by without a website. But this is a true story. We had just moved to a new city and needed to find a place to take our car for some repairs. I went on the Internet and found a website for a car shop located in that city and it was nearby. The guy provided us with great service. He made a really good impression on people who had just moved into town. I told the guy I found his website on the Internet. He looked so surprised and said something like “Really! I was wondering if that thing worked!” LOL. Building relationships are how you take a basic website to a fortune 500 company

Yeah, it's pretty shocking to see companies without websites and they think they'll be extremely successful in their industry. I usually get a lot of my web design clients this way, I will show them what their competitors are doing online and give them an idea of how much traffic they are missing out on, and they almost instantly sign up with me lol. Some people I talk to think they're going to open a business, set up a free website with a builder from GoDaddy or something similar, and make a ton of money. What they don't realize is that they are not being taken seriously when their visitors see "Powered by GoDaddy" at the bottom of their website. Some people don't even take websites seriously, no matter the design, if they see "Powered by WordPress" at the bottom. A person browsing online wants to be on the absolute best website within the industry, and if you're using something for free then they will deem you as low income, and that means you're not the leader in the industry who should be making plenty of cash to pay for a basic hosting account lol Building relationships are how you take a basic website to a fortune 500 company

It's out of ignorance and the naive ones that will still boldly claim that their business doesn't need website in our world today especially when it's a fact that the world has turned into a digital world where almost everything is carried out online. I don't think that I have purchased anything without looking it up online first and mostly on 90% probability the information which I get online influences my decision on what to do, where to buy and when to buy.

The customer is everything when it comes to building a great company /websites and this is one of the reasons we should always try as much as we could to be able to have the needs of those customers at the back of our minds. When you damage your business relationship with your customers to any small extent, there is 99% of losing that particular customer and also chances of the customer influencing others people he or she knows to stop patronizing your business.

Yesterday, a friend of mine returned microwave she bought from one store that sell second hand tested brand. On buying it, she informed the seller she only want the particular one she was purchasing and if it's not working properly that she will return it and take her money. It turned out that the microwave was faulty and when she returned it, the seller tried to force her to take a another as she wouldn't like to refund her money. When it's obvious that the buyer won't take any other one, the seller became aggrieved and aggressive. I really felt bad because I knew that has damaged the business relationship with my friend and she will never buy from them ever again.

This is the point where they microwave seller should have made that little sacrifice of refunding instead of having to fight it out with the customer. I always hate it when I am into any dispute with my customers as I try as much as I could to ensure everything is sorted out as soon as possible.

I think it takes like 1000 or more transaction to reach fortune 500 companies. Playing solo and then getting random orders on freelancing site may not lead to that part. You can see that such type of companies take years to develop. And they focus on numbers. So it is all numbers game. Basic website is essential in early times. But in order to handle more people on order side, you may have to develop further.

I have learned from the experience working for small company that making million dollars and then keeping them would make any company fortune 500. And that may not be easy enough on that scale. I can see that you really put value in relationships which encompass almost everyone- with customers, influencers and even with competitors. I think that really requires skills too. But if being friendly and approachable is innate in you then that shouldn't be a trouble. No man is an island. I like the line that says about turning your competitors into friends. If that atmosphere will prevail in the business industry then you can imagine the peaceful flow of commerce. But that is easier said than done because based on my experience a competitor here is always a competitor. In fact, even your close friends can suddenly be your competitor because of envy or jealousy.

I love that "make your enemies/competitors your friends". It is a great idea to keep those competitors as your friends so that you can know them well and you won't get that anxious about them.
