6 things nobody told you about blogging

Blogging isn't the easiest thing in the world to do, even if you've read that it is because it takes hours a day of dedication to get anywhere quick in the rankings and to boost your subscriber list.  Most of the articles online will tell you how to do a lot of things when it comes to blogging, many of mine are in that list, but we never tell you how difficult it is and how long it takes to become the authority you want to be.  I've told plenty of people they should start blogging to see where it takes them, mainly because you'll never stumble upon a big authority website that doesn't have an active blog 6 things nobody told you about blogging

Plenty of people get into blogging because they read a story of someone that makes $100,000+ a year just from writing content for all of their readers.  What they don't know about that story is it took that one blogger thousands of hours of just writing content, and even longer to market and engage with all of their readers.  You can't post a few articles, or even a couple dozen, and think you're going to strike it rich online.  You need to invest yourself, as well as some money, in order to bring the people in to read everything you've written 6 things nobody told you about blogging

In this discussion, I'll be going over 7 things nobody told you about blogging, and they are:

You won't get rich overnight
There's no such thing as a "get rich quick" or overnight type of deal when it comes to making money online or offline.  Sure, you could win the lottery and be a mega-millionaire overnight, but that's random chance and happens to a very select group of individuals.  You won't be able to see a great deal of money coming in unless you put in a lot of time with your blog, and that means you need to write a lot as well as market your content well enough to bring a lot of people in.

Blogging for riches takes a lot of time, and you might not even get rich doing it, but you'll never know unless you try.  You shouldn't get into blogging because you want to become a millionaire, you should do it because you want to type about something you love, and that will usually get people in to keep reading your content 6 things nobody told you about blogging

Your rankings don't jump up with a single blog post
Many people, especially new bloggers, think that if you post a really good article it will rank almost instantly.  This never happens and you should get this idea of the rankings out of your mind right away.  The search engines probably won't find your new blog post for a few days or even a week, so that means the new article that you think is the best in the world won't even be indexed for a few days.

Don't expect quick rankings of your new blog posts, because it simply doesn't work like that.  Rankings come over time, and you should focus more on writing great content for your readers instead of monitoring where your website is listed for a keyword you're targeting.

You can schedule your posts without a paid plugin
A lot of people talk about getting HootSuite to schedule everything for your social media platforms, which is an amazing piece of software, but it's not needed to schedule blog posts on WordPress.  WordPress actually has a built-in feature that allows you to write up one article, or dozens, and schedule them to come out whenever you want.  Bloggers love doing this because it will keep their blogs fresh with new content.

Think about it, would you rather write up 10 articles and schedule them over the course of 30 days or would you rather log on every 3 days and write up some content to post for your readers?  If you said you'd rather do 1 day of work and schedule it out, you're just like the rest of the bloggers out there that are more successful 6 things nobody told you about blogging

It costs money if you want to look professional
Starting up a blog isn't difficult since it can be 100% free if you choose to take that route.  If you want to be seen as a professional within your niche, you need your blog to look great, and that means you should likely get a premium theme as well as a well-designed logo to show you're the best place to come for your industry content 6 things nobody told you about blogging

A great WordPress theme can be purchased for anywhere between $40 and $150, which is a one time fee, and can be uploaded to your hosting account that can cost $4 a month to $10 a year 6 things nobody told you about blogging  Prices for logos is all over the place, but you can get an amazing one from Sajeewa for just $5 and it's better than anything you could get for $100+ 6 things nobody told you about blogging

Here's the most recent logo I had Sajeewa make for me, for my new website:

You have to post often if you want a decent amount of traffic
When you start blogging, you might think the traffic will come in quick, but it will not.  You need to consistently post content to your blog in order to get massive amounts of content targeting thousands of keywords.  Over time, you will eventually begin to see traffic trickling in from the search engines and your profits will begin to go up.

You need to dedicate yourself to blogging if you want to see any sort of profits rolling in.  You can't just fly by night and write up one article a month, then see thousands of visitors coming in and throwing money at you lol.

You have to advertise if you want traffic to come in quicker
If you're unhappy with the speed of your rankings going through the search engines, you might need to start advertising your blog posts to get people in quicker than normal.  You can set up some PPC campaigns on Facebook, Google, or Yahoo/Bing and get people in right away after your ad has been approved.  You can pay for each click, but you need to make sure your content is worth reading before you spend any money on traffic, so you'll need to take your time writing up what people want.

Never rush a PPC campaign, be sure to filter out your targeting so you're not wasting money on pointless clicks.  Clicks that don't stick around on your website are wasted, and you'll still have to pay for them, so try to avoid this by only targeting people who you think will stick around for a while after clicking through.

In conclusion
Blogging isn't the easiest thing to make money with, but it can turn your passion into a career if you just dedicate yourself.  You need to invest yourself, as well as some money if you want to be seen as the professional within your industry.  You will have to post often if you want to target dozens, or hundreds, of keywords and bring in traffic.  In the end, you'll need to be the best blogger possible in order to be successful, but you'll need to remember that you won't get rich in a short amount of time or ever for that matter.  You should blog because you're knowledgeable about a subject and can make some money off of it, not just because you want to get rich.  So get out there, write up some content, and engage with your visitors 6 things nobody told you about blogging

I completely agree with your article. Most people are too gullible in thinking that blogging would earn them thousands of dollars instantly. People read success stories but they should understand that only 1 in 10000 bloggers really earn a decent income. Also it takes years, money and some luck to be recognized as an authority in your chosen field.

I have read that it takes at least two years before getting a decent amount of money regularly. Still, it will really depend on the effort of the person. How eager you are to achieve your goal.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
I've read that it could even take more than that. You'll have a better chance of getting noticed in Youtube than blogging. It seriously takes a lot of time and effort to get there.

Most successful bloggers have invested so much on their platform. Eventually, they paid off. So aspiring bloggers need to know that it's going to be a while before they reach many people.

This the most real comment about it. My cousins started with just one blog, then their community/followers asked for more, and they spent about 3 years working on those, until they finally did some money. More than money, they invested time and effort, long hours up all night, exhausting feedback, updating once and again, it's actually a very demanding job.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
Wow! That's so cool. Newcomers just want to earn money quickly. They're not even aware of the struggles successful bloggers went through to get where they are now.

Your cousins sure proved how difficult it is to earn from blogging. It will take years for most people just to make decent profit.

Yeah it would takes time to earn money in blogging. People think that it is just one blink of an eye and you already have money in your hands but that is completely wrong. Bloggers have to wait until customers come to their site and buy it.

Two long years?! Well, I guess blogging can only be a full-time job right after it gains traffic. However, I'm sure there are tactics and strategies not to make it that long. It's best to have other sources of income first before venturing into this kind of business.

I agree. Too many are dazzled by the sound of making it big. People just want easy money. But they quickly find themselves quitting early on because it's not what they expect. That's how you separate the real bloggers from those who just want to join the bandwagon.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Chinet23
Earning big is great but if this is the only motivation, it will not take us far. It will be easy to quit. And I agree that this is where the difference lies. Without passion this endeavour can bore you out and will turn out to be a mere routine.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
I know, right? It's easy to get burnout from doing stuff you're not motivated enough to continue. It seems that most people just want to get in on get rich quick things found on the internet. By that idea alone, you can tell how unlikely they are to succeed if they stay on this path.

I really agree with him. Not an easy task but if you really love what you are doing and dedicated, it will come out like you are just playing but earning. His article is very encouraging to do more post and to love it. Everyone starts from scratched, but once you aim what you really want, for sure you will achieve and excel on it.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I like what you said. It's a very positive outlook on blogging. I'm sure most people start out that way. The real challenge comes once you hit a certain point. Like slow days and lack of external motivators.

Your immediate actions will show if you're really determined in creating content for your blog. It takes time before you gain a following and a dedicated audience.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

That is very true. Things could be easier to us if we love what we are doing and we enjoying it. We should not also look for the money that we would get from it at first. We put it as secondarily. We need to keep in mind that we are doing this not just for money but for ourselves also. As long as we love it and we enjoy it,everything goes will follow.

Some people ought to think that when they see a person got a success to a certain field, they can also get the same success overnight. They don't fully understand what sacrifices that person did to be able to be that successful. He exerted effort and patience, that's why he got his success now. Your way to success will never come tonight without you giving effort into it. You also have to work on your own as some bloggers did.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Corzhens
We all know that there are popular bloggers with a following of hundreds of thousands that they also earn hundreds of thousands of dollars from their blog. But we have to understand that getting popular in blogging takes a lot of effort and not all bloggers who work for popularity becomes popular because popularity has many factors to be considered and it’s not only the promotion that matters.

I honestly can't get the PPC. The reason being I have no money to spend on blog. I may have to try the organic and deliberate ways to get traffic through the social media. And any other option that I can think of. I have mostly seen the blogging as difficult way to get the monetization revenue source. So spending the money with PPC would only break the bank more. And that needs to be taken care of as well.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Try blogging using Facebook as your platform. What I mean is create a shadow site in Facebook using a Facebook group and then grow the group and own the niche. In a year or so, you'll build a good following and you'll be an authority on your niche. But of course you need to post good articles daily that can help your members. Also share your posts into different relative groups. When you have thousands of active members then it's very easy to monetize.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

overcast
I am not sure if the group and the page may work though. Because I want the users to convert on some offers or the stuff. It is kind of harder. some of the decision I made on the page on humor type, it didn't convert. I am wondering what can be promoted and what type of the work was worth doing.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
I think what you're doing is good as it is. The most effective way to improve your blog's status is through organic means. It does take time. But it will reflect positively once you garner enough of your target audience. After all, they're the ones who will engage frequently with your content.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

overcast
I agree. I have to find out the audience that suits my website. And also have to reach the places where I can get some possible organic traffic. Most likely the forums and the blogs where I can share my views. I have seen people making use of the social media but not all the time it can be useful if you ask me.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
That's true. Social media is a powerful platform for promoting your blog. The idea is that it "can" be helpful. But it may not always be for everyone.

It really depends on a variety of factors. You're better off focusing on improving the quality of your content and finding more helpful solutions to reach your intended readers.

One way of doing this is to find commonly searched topics. The more relevant and fresh they are, the more likely you'll get new readers visiting your website. Believe it or not, many readers will visit multiple blogs to get as much info on what they're reading about.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I have seen buzzfeed that thrives completely on social media instead of google. They write provocative and clickbait type headlines. And they may have bad content inside it. But they do write some really good content for attracting people. I am sure that people who don't rely on google can use this as a strategy and do much better. Considering a lot of social media sites write fluff content. I am sure that having google as benchmark can be a good attempt.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
That's an interesting idea. I think it could work.

I've also seen Buzz Feed content. They're not entirely bad just as you said. And it's funny how most people notice that part of their marketing.

I was one of those people who thought that they had great content. Like everything had the same good quality. But nope. There are lots of fluff pieces and ones were so obviously not well done.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

overcast
I think they fall into provocative content type category. They do have fake news and fake data in their articles. But nobody does research to point that out. They mostly make the fake claims in their headlines and that is something everyone hates to see.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
Oh, that's sad to hear. I probably won't be reading much of their content from now on. Not that I used to read a lot.

But being inaccurate with facts surely makes you think twice about them. I hope they improve the quality of their content. Too many people are easily swayed by click bait articles.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

overcast
Problem is that we are currently having generation of people who don't check the data and see the facts. In fact most of the facts and so called research are often baited content. And there isn't much factual inside. Thats why there are many such sites out there.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
That makes me feel wary of joining similar sites. I guess you can only see things for what they truly are after some time.

It might be best if we stick to legitimate websites. I'm sure we can glean more accurate information from well known and trusted sites.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

overcast
It's hard to find legitimate sites. The reason being lot of research is being tampered with. And then that makes it not much usable either. So that goes to show you such clickbait sites are not worth believing in terms of the content.

I sometimes got offended when others say to me that blogging is just an easy thing to do. They don't know how much effort and time bloggers sacrificed just to give a quality content. It is true that you won't get rich overnight, you have to learn how to work it out and success will come in your way. I am still building up my way to success hoping that someday, I'll be one of those known bloggers in the world.

Being super rich through blogging is possible bht just like you said it can never happen overnight. It only occurs after hours and hours of work by learning and going past daily and monthly limits. I have encountered people who have learnt the trade and gone on to make a lot of money.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
It must be nice meeting such people. It's always inspiring to seem them succeed despite the odds. You might even learn from their mistakes if you intend to do blogging as well. Feedback from successful people is often insightful.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Definitely chatting up people like that offers one an opportunity to shape your own path. It helps you to know the things to focus on and what to avoid. At the end of the day you become a better person than the one relying on trial and error tactics.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

That's so true. You're very fortunate to have met them. Professionals help us avoid the pitfalls of being a newcomer. We still have to carve our paths to success.

But with the help of their wisdom and hard earned experience, we'll be able to circumnavigate difficult roads much easier.

Yes, that's what makes them so great. They're a blessing to those who seek to follow a similar path. Like how experienced bloggers seek to give back to the community.

Because the people reading their content helped them get where they are. It's their own way of giving thanks for the people looking to follow in their footsteps.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I agree that success won't come easily. It requires effort and focus on the goal you really want to achieve. I have noticed that some bloggers spent ever years before hitting their target. Besides, the sweetest victory will always come from a bittersour experiences.

Blogging definitely is hard - for me it's basically like a second full time job. It takes time to write posts, to organize pictures to accompany those posts, to complete SEO and so forth. Doing it well is not easy at all, and I feel like I'm constantly learning as I go as well...which also takes time!

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
You're very much right. It is a job in today's standards. Though, not everyone sees it that way. But the same can be said of many occupations right before they became the norm.

Like how being Youtuber went from being a passionate hobby to a full time commitment that earns thousands of dollars. It's amazing how the world evolves around us.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

amelia88
It is a job in today's standards. Though, not everyone sees it that way. But the same can be said of many occupations right before they became the norm.

I think that's the hard part too! Some people don't see blogging as something difficult or time consuming, but they don't know everything that has to go into it behind the scenes. I think the same goes for YouTube videos too - people see a final product that may go for a few minutes, but forget about there often being multiple takes, and loads of editing that go into it too.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
Yes, that's what I mean. We often forget to look behind the camera or the person making the content. They're the true stars of the show. So much goes into making the content what it is.

I'd like to share something I learned. Actually, I found it randomly while visiting other websites. I can't remember the exact line.

But the point is that when something can be read easily, then a lot of work has been done to make it that way. This applies to so much in real life. When something is great, then there's usually a ton of effort done for it to be that good.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Youngshark
I think what you are referring to is the level of struggle you have to endure in such an industry. Sometimes the best things in life are hidden in the toughest of jobs. If you are able to push through you never know how far it can take you.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
That's true. That's why I commend those who can take such difficult jobs. They're able to reap the rewards and improve as individuals. The fact that they started from scratch shows their dedication and commitment.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Youngshark
Oooh yeeah my friend. But I view them as human beings who just serve as examples to us. I mean what they accomplish we also can with the right success qualities. Sometimes even an idea that is not genius backed with the right mindset always works.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
I hope you reach your goal someday. I share your sentiment. It's never easy to get where you want to be. Blogging takes tremendous effort and will to continue. You will have good and bad days.

But as long as you push through with your content, you can succeed in the long term. That's how famous blogs became what they are today.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

ajahcuizon
I appreciate your support and really hope that I'll become a successful blogger. I have seen some bloggers who recently left their jobs and made blogging their full time job and I believe that's a proof that you could really earn from blogging. But it took them years before they reached their peak and I'm just starting off my career, I guess I still have a long way run to success.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
You're probably right. Others were fortunate enough to start earlier before there was lots of competition. Nowadays you have to compete with other more popular and polished blogs.

But it's also nice to remember that you are your own content creator. Sometimes people are looking for something new. And who knows? You might just be what they're looking for.

So even if it takes you a long time, why not keep going? Because at the end of the day, the clock will keep on ticking. Time will move forward.

Whether you work your way to success or give up too soon.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Youngshark
Blogging when done seriously can transition into your full time job. I agree with you @ajahcuizon that one needs to invest a serious amount of effort and time to get the desired result.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Ooh yeeah. I have the same hopes for you my friend. It is easy sometimes to give up along the way due to challengea but I believe overcoming them is all the more sweeter.

True! You won't get rich if you're just starting. You need to study and work hard. It's also a plus if you love what you're doing so you better choose the right career that interested you most. It can motivate you and will help you to better improve. It's very important that you love what you're doing than if you're only just making some money since it's modern or many are doing it. Choose what you really love and you'll be good at it as times goes by.

Your passion in what you are doing the thing that will keep you doing. Being passionate to work will not really feel like work at all because you are enjoying it. The money will come around you just need to be patient.

If you only work for the sake of working it can really wear you thin. So we have to find our passion. What can be more rewarding than earning from what you love doing.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

amelia88
I think that's a good point. Finding something you love is huge. There are plenty of topics I couldn't blog about, but when it comes to topics I am passionate about I feel like I could just write all day! I think that's important as well in building a connection with your reader base.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
I feel you. I find myself talking a lot about stuff I'm interested in. It's funny that we can just keep going when it's something that appeals to us. So if we're passionate about our chosen topics, we won't be afraid to share as much as we can.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

amelia88
I think that's so important for success! People's passion shines through in their writing, I think - it feels so much more genuine when people write with passion rather than being clearly disinterested in a topic. Personally I feel like I can absolutely tell the difference when someone writes with passion compared to when they don't!

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
You're so right about that. I can't tell you how many times I was bored at what someone was writing about. Disinterest isn't just obvious in terms of facial expression.

It can just as easily come across in one's writing.

My biggest pet peeve is when someone tries to do the disengaged or uninterested approach to their writing style. If you can't pull it off, that's because it's not meant for you.

It's so obvious that they're trying to act cool by making it look like they don't care much about their writing or what people think. And it's kind of true because of their frequent spelling and grammatical errors.

But the way they say it. The words they choose. It's just so cringe-inducing that I close the page within the first minute of reading.

I agree with this article. You can't get rich by just writing one content. I think writers must be able to write a lot of blogs and advertise more for them to gets known. It requires a lot of time so giving a full effort to this in a longer time might be an effective way to have money in blogging.

This is right as blogging is one of the good ways that you are able to market what you don't on a consistent basis. To be able to write contents as well as try to update them will make you get better with time. I have come to notice that making quality articles is the best way to go about it.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

It's probably the most consistent way to do things. Blogging requires a lot of patience, time, and effort. Things that most people don't have. So for those who dream of becoming successful bloggers, they must be ready for the long days ahead.

RE Posts scheduling ~ That's a biggie! I was NOT told that the process of sharing your posts in order to get them to the reading audience could be made easy.

Example 1: I was also not told that you could connect or link blogging platforms and share your posts with a larger audience. For example, when I had a WordPress blog, there was an option for me to connect my Tumblr blog so that whenever I published a post on my WordPress blog, it was automatically posted to my Tumblr blog. Not the entire post. Just the title, a snippet and the link back to my WordPress blog. I had a WP blog years ago. These days I think there's something called Jetpack.

( https://jetpack.com/support/publicize/tumblr/ ~ "Thanks to the Publicize module, you can automatically publish each one of your blog posts to your Tumblr blog." )

The WordPress platform has a large group of readers and the Tumblr platform has a large group of readers. Why expose your blog to one audience when you can expose it to two audiences?

Example 2: Another thing people did not tell me about was that there are many automated tools that can be used to help you share your blog posts. Manually sharing your posts is exhausting! There are so many tools out there, in addition to HootSuite which you mentioned! I have used IFTTT, dlvr.it, and BufferApp. These tools help you post to all of the social networks – Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+, Pinterest, Tumblr, etc. Many tools are free with an upgraded plan.

I think automation is really important. And we should never ignore the automation. Most of the people don't get the power of it. It can make your brand move to people pretty quickly. You can get more thigns done by automating the posts. And also it can save your time. I think blogging becomes lot easier if you automate things.

This article emphasis on blogging as a form of investment gives me a good mindset not to get easily frustrated when there are no instant results. I know it will not be successful overnight and it doesn't take just a couple of blogs to make the cut. I can see it's really a challenging endeavor and you really have to spend time and some money to make it work.

It's true of most things. Especially, in life. Investments that make you rich don't happen in just a few weeks. It mostly takes months and years to see a comeback. Earning gains will take time. But it most certainly is worth it.

Blogging can potentially be one way of accomplish it. Though, it's not for everyone. You must be a dedicated writer with an eye for relevant and interesting topics.

The perfect mindset that one my friend. Look ahead in like 5 years time how you want your content to be and move towards that goal.

Something that people forget is delayed gratification. Those who can withstand not getting anything instantly can do stuff like this. Because the payoff for all your hard work takes a lot of time.

So be sure to invest in patience and determination. These will bring you closer towards your goal.

I have come to learn of the value in long term investments. They can take some time to mature but if you did the work well then the results will never be dissapointing. This is especially true when we make investments that will later on yield results and money for us even as we sleep.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

That's the great thing about long term investments. They give us so much value after the long wait.

This is what makes successful people so financially capable. They've managed to focus their time and effort on stuff that can yield huge returns.

Blogging is full of secrecy because people will not just tell you of how to be successful in it if they won't benefit through. In addition in what you have said, we must work hard in making consistent blogs that has a wonderful content to make a traffic that will stabilize as time goes by. It would be really hard in start because of the absence of traffic but once you see an opportunity go for it. Having advertisment is not always the solution, invest your time and don't be lazy be persistent.

I guess what the person meant was that long time bloggers have surely amassed a multitude of knowledge and experience to know what works the most. And not everyone will want others to know the stuff they do.

But the primary thing needed in order to succeed is our own will and concentration. We must not give in to feelings of inadequacy. They come to us when we're at our weakest.

We must persevere through these hardships to reach the island of success.

Your words are very true. It's often that we assume we can be just as good as others in a short period of time. Blogging is certainly not one of them.

This will require your continuous focus and attention. It will force you to learn new skills and methods when it comes to managing your online presence. So much has to be done in order to become a relevant blogger.

But the good news is that anyone can. We just need to be determined enough to succeed in the long run.

These are all important things I wish I knew before I started blogging. Once I started with blogging, I gradually knew about these things.
Scheduling post is a good way to manage your blogging activity. I schedule posts. However, I also log in my website every day to check the comments and traffic.
When I started on blogging, I did not expect to become rich, what I was expecting was earning a decent amount of money. This is not happening. It is really difficult to earn from blogs.

It is not always easy to earn with blogs, but there are ways that you can make some few bucks from having a blog and one of them is by advertising. I have realized that even when you are running some adverts for some companies on your blog, it is going to yield returns when your visitors decide to check out things on the blog.

@Barida I use adsense and media.net ads on my blogs. I earn from these ad networks, however, it takes many months to reach the minimum withdrawal threshold. Apart from ad networks I also use affiliate ads. I am also thinking to try selling my ad spaces through by sell ads.

This is one of those reasons some are trying to go into side hustle instead of depending on the blog site to make ends meet. It is not always easy unless you are having someone that is there to help keep driving traffic to the site.

Many people give up on blogging within six months. However, I continued blogging despite earning nothing. It took almost six months to see the first penny on my adsense dashboard and it took almost one year to see a buck on adsense dashboard.
Getting traffic is not enough, your traffic should also convert for better results. I have 10 websites and I get decent traffic, however, the conversion is pretty low.

It's good to know beforehand that you aren't going to get rich immediately once you get into blogging. This way, you can know exactly what you are getting into so as not to feel disappointed overnight that the financial breakthrough isn't forthcoming as expected. With such knowledge, you will be able to work on your blog for the love of it till it starts to bring you success.

“It's good to know beforehand that you aren't going to get rich immediately once you get into blogging.”

Something that Tommy accurately pointed out is not only this, but the fact that you might not get rich at all. The unfortunate truth is that some people might not even make a dime from blogging.

The problem is that some people simply don’t have the kind of spark to their writing that’s going to make it worth the time invested to read it. It’s a bit hard to both write and read, but it’s true none the less.

The majority of people don’t have all day to give every blogger a chance. Someone’s English and grammar might be technically perfect, but that doesn’t mean their writing is going to be attractive enough for anyone to give it a second glance.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

You are very correct about saying that there is a possibility of some people not being able to make any singe dime from blogging. I have seen so many people who couldn't have any breakthrough with blogging and eventually ended up giving up on it and sought for other means to make money online. It's not an easy thing to be a successful blogger, it requires a lot time, commitment and even money as well.

I think that's often the hardest thing for people nowadays. In so many aspects of life we can have instant gratification, so having to work and commit to something when we don't get immediate rewards it can be tough. It's a good reminder that success with this kind of thing does take time, and that it's normal for that to be the case.

I like what you said. It's not so easy once you realize all the hard work involved with blogging. This is the reason why many fail at it.

Once they lose steam, they start to meander and lose sight of their goals. So all that remains is those of us who truly do what it takes to succeed in the business.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I think that's the big thing about blogging - if you write about stuff you're passionate about, it seems like less of a chore (so even if you don't make megabucks it's not a big deal) but it also is easier to connect with writing when it feels like the author cares...so you're actually making your blog more personable, relatable and marketable.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
Yes, you're right. That's the best way to do it. Because if you don't feel like you're working but still commit to what you do, then days will just go by. You won't feel pressured to be something you're not.

You're able to stay authentic to who you are and your current skill sets. We should remember that it's okay to start from the bottom. Lots of big Youtubers nowadays don't even delete their old content. Same with bloggers.

Because it shows where they started to get to where they are today.

I think readers can definitely sense whether or not a writer is passionate about the topic they’re writing about. There’s a distinct quality to someone’s writing when they’re talking about something they love.

If it’s just something that they’re doing in order to churn out some work and make a buck, there’s typically a robotic quality to it; very stiff and almost academic.

When someone writes about something they love, there’s an airiness and casual quality to their writing that can actually make the reader more comfortable.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
That's a sad yet truthful way of putting it. I've also felt this way while reading other content. I knew that the writing was okay. But did it appeal to me?

The short answer was "no."

It's important that you have a target audience for your content. Not only that, you also have to be conscious of your content's quality.

People will be reading and evaluating your work. It doesn't take a genius to figure out if your writing doesn't make them want to read more.

Blogging is not as easy as it seems and you have to brace yourself for the challenges and be patient. I thought also too that I only need to pay for the domain and hosting and I've actually already checked the price but it seems I have to spend more cash to make it look decent and professional and to make it work.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

It's good to have a solid foundation before you start, so I admire that - sometimes people go into blogging without a game plan and it ends up going downhill fast. The fact that you want to learn as much as possible before you start will set you in good stead!

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

That's very helpful. I actually tried blogging some time ago. Nothing serious. I guess it just wasn't for me. The idea of generating new content on a constant basis seemed fun.

But when you actually do it, you'll find that it can be exhausting trying to come up with stuff on your own. So definitely know the stuff you're getting into before starting.

One way to stay motivated is to not treat it like work. You'd be surprised by how much our efforts reflect on our attitudes towards accomplishing them. Better to write gradually with tender loving care than to rush content just for the sake of it.

Just take time for yourself and learn as you go. All prospects have to start somewhere. We can't undermine our own confidence just because we don't know it all.

So go ahead and fail if you must. History has only taught us that those who failed the most are most likely to succeed. I don't mean that literally. But those who accomplished meaningful things during their lifetime weren't afraid of failure.

Let's embrace these mistakes and keep moving forward. That's how progress works.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

One of the reasons why people don't get started is because they are afraid to make mistakes. I understand that I have to learn as much as I can but it doesn't guarantee that I won't make mistakes in the process and I just have to get started somewhere.

Thanks for the advice. It gets me more motivated.

I think post scheduling can save a lot of time and money. Plus many people prefer to make use of the post scheduling feature for the social media too. I think apart from that guest blogging feature can be important as well. But all of that depends on how people make use of the blogging options that they have. So based on my experience I think guest posting and scheduling weekly post is a good start.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
Sorry to hear that. This could be why the focus has shifted to Youtube for those seeking to earn profit. Not that it's much easier. I guess most people find it more likely to succeed there than blogging.

Scheduling posts can also give you time to rest your mind. Most content creators are overworking themselves in the hopes of gaining traffic. But it's not how it works. It's much better to gradually release content so that your traffic is more organic. It can also gain momentum.

That's one good way to get about getting to be successful in blogging. Do it for the love of what you desire and not for the monetary value at first. Focusing on making great and quality contents for your visitors to your blog is a better choice than what we have with those bloggers that are trying all they could to see the blog being ranked higher over night. Honestly, it is not going to work that way as blogging takes patience and persistence before you will start enjoying the fruits of your labour.

Also, it is always important for people to spend money as long as they want the blog to look professional. You can't just get everything free just like that as there are always a reason for things that take place on a daily basis.

When a service is free, it always comes shorthanded, there is no doubt about that. So, if you are looking at getting the best out of your blog, it's paramount not to use only free service for everything that the blog needs to grow. Take for instance, your hosting service, forum software, theme etc.

“Also, it is always important for people to spend money as long as they want the blog to look professional.”

Well, as the old saying goes, you can’t make an omelet without cracking a few eggs.

If you want to stand out above the rest, you’re going to have to invest in ways that the rest normally wouldn’t. Premium themes, professional logos, fast domains, and maybe even hiring some editors to improve your work.

All these take some initial investment, but have the potential to pay off exponentially.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Exactly! Nothing good comes easy. Life never works like that and it's not like we are living in a magical world with lots of mysteries that we can be expecting to see a miracle or magic pop up and we start getting millions of dollars dropping even without us breaking a sweat.

I think it's true what they say - you've gotta spend money to make money. As long as people are spending that money logically for things that can and will pay off, then I think it's a good thing. A polished and professional looking blog has much more potential than something that looks completely amateur.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

This is what serious bloggers do. They need to have a professional feel for their websites. They even hire professional designers and stuff to further personalize the features on their blogs. That's why successful blogs feel unique whenever you visit their pages.

I don't think anything makes anyone gets rich overnight especially when it comes being a legitimate business. It's only scam that would promise to make you rich overnight. Online business requires time and having to work as a blogger isn't a get quick scheme. It requires a lot of time and dedication to working and promoting your blog. Google ranking takes time especially when you are looking at benefiting from using SEO. Also you must be willing to invest money on your own blog if you want to be looked at being serious.

It would be an absolute fluke if someone was able to get rich that quickly - I feel like usually it's celebrities that can do that and they've already got an established profile. For the rest of us "average joes" we have to work at it and like you said it requires time and dedication.

“If you said you'd rather do 1 day of work and schedule it out, you're just like the rest of the bloggers out there that are more successful.”

I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little skeptical about this. If I’m going strictly by the example you gave (10 articles over a thirty-day period) I don’t think that’s a realistic goal in one or even two or three sittings. According to a 2016 study, the ideal length of a blog post is around 1,900 words. 19,000 words in one day sounds like a great way to churn out some poor quality posts, depending on the subject.

Personally, I’d rather give all my focus and attention to one post at a time so I can create content that is not only educational and accurate, but fun, well-written, and engaging.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

rlpzbeermoney
I agree. The quality is far more important than the quantity of posts you create. But sometimes, people settle for half-assed works as this is more favored by the system. In Youtube also, posting daily regardless of the content is more favored by the system than the amount of work you put in a single quality video. I guess it's more of the feeling of self accomplishment that drives you to do this kind of work (doing quality work) rather than the money.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
That's an interesting take on it. I think you're right. Blogging is more about than it is about the money. The financial aspect only comes after you've put hours of work and labor on making your blog as good as can be.

That's why the most successful blogs are a product of love and dedication. Because they reward their readers with excellent content. This earns them loyal fans who return to blogs as soon as there's a new post.

And they still frequent the blogs to revisit old posts as well.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Rushed contents are always useless, ineffective, jumbled up, less impressive and boring to read. Nobody appreciate wasting his or her time reading a poorly written article. Instead of rushing to finish one's content and end up making a mess of what you are writing on, I would say it's not worth it.

Blogs are different from forums especially with the nature of contents that both site carries. More time and attention is given to blog contents and it's why they are absolutely different from what we see on forums.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
I know what you mean. There are lots of blogs that don't have any meaningful content. Most are just too lazily done to even warrant reading. That's why they don't even get that much visitors there.

When it comes to creating quality, you're absolutely right - I feel like it tends to be pretty evident when something has been rushed simply to get it completed and published.

I do think the old saying "quality over quantity" is true in that case - you want to make sure that what you're putting out is high quality, rather than necessarily just cranking out work that is sub-par for the sake of it.

In blogging trust is crucial, most blogs which has a lot of links and those that are so geared for monetization won't succeed. You need to blog about a niche that you're passionate and comfortable about. Also whatever you're writing should help others, entertain them or solve their problems. Doing this would build up your authority. And the only time you can monetize your blog properly is when you have become an authority to your niche.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I get turned off myself with blogs populated with too many adverts and links because their becoming too pushy with their monetary gains instead of being able to help readers completely. They lose the sincerity to really connect with people and I think that readers can really detect that. It's part of blogging definitely but there must be ways to do it more subtly.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
This is so true. Because in their pursuit to earn gains, they're unconsciously sabotaging their own efforts. One thing to remember is the target audience. No one likes excessive links and adverts online. So why would they think people won't react negatively to that?

Keeping it simple and reasonable shows how much you care about your readers. It also tells them that you're not making it hard for them to read your blog with all those distractions.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

This is really important. When I visit a website, if I feel like there are just ads all over the site I never really want to keep visiting their page - I feel like I'm just a moneymaker to them rather than a valued reader. I get that websites have to make money but some of them just end up being over the top.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Same with Youtube videos. I often find it annoying whenever a video has multiple ad breaks. It just disrupts the flow of experience. That's why it's so much better to put it just before the video starts.

As for blogs, it's better to keep it reasonable. Just enough so that people can read your content without getting distracted by those ads.

Definitely try and write about things that you're naturally interested in and passionate about. It's so fun whenever the bloggers are genuinely passionate. They have a sparkle in their eyes. You can see it in their photos. That's why food and beauty blogs stand out for me.

I love food blogs too! I get so much inspiration from them, it's like when they talk about the food they're making and even the photography of the dishes they create, it's like seeing them put their heart and soul on a plate! I'm also in the same boat. I don't really know if my content is up to par to the standards of the viewer. In fact, I don't even know what that standard to achieve is. Sometimes this gets in the way in writing a single blog post and it gets infuriating. The constant anxiety of your work not being good enough is tough to get rid of.

I'm sorry to hear that. It's only natural for us to worry about our writing and other people's opinion of us. What we're saying reflects heavily on who we are as a person. This is why blogging is a personal journey for most people.

The key to moving past feelings of inadequacy is giving yourself room for failure. Don't be afraid to post imperfect content. There are kind people out there. Trust in the goodness of humanity.

Because your readers will be the one to support you no matter what happens. Trust them just as they believe in you.

I think we are often our own worst critics, and judge our own work to higher standards than we would for others. I try and remind myself of that, otherwise I would be overcome with anxiety about my content not being good enough..and then I'd probably never produce anything! 6 things nobody told you about blogging

You really need to invest time by doing this. Honestly, until now, I'm still in the planning stage because of lack of time. My two days off from work, sometimes not enough. Focus and strong motivation will help you to achieve this.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Those two are very important for just about anything. Especially, blogging. Most of us tend to get distracted from writing content. It's so much easier to watch Youtube videos than to write your own stuff.

So it's a challenge for us who want to become better bloggers. Set aside specific time for writing and editing your work. Once this becomes a habit, you're going to find it a bit easier to publish new posts.

I would suggest to you that you should start from the bottom again. Gatherings and searchings idea in the internet or to the people you used to know about blogging and writing a good content. I believe that in time you will become a good blogger if you really wanted to be like that. Know your motivations and reach your goals.

It does sound like a case of "you have to spend money to make money" when it comes to blogging, and that can be applied to a lot of situations in life. Like you said, looking professional costs money, but I do think it's a worthwhile investment if you want success (and money) to come from blogging.

There is no work that can get you rich instantly. Unless if you won a lottery. I just started my blog in wordpress and I can say that this article is very relatable. I will not lose hope. But instead I will strive hard to do more. I learned a lot in this article. I will definitely use some of your advice.

That is right. All job is hard, even the security guard job is tough. Standing for about 8 to 12 hours a day and greetings or helping customers are not easy,so what more being a blogger. The point is that making money is really hard so we need to be wiser where and how we gonna spend our hard earned money.

I agree. Blogging is not really easy, It's the same as in making your own homemade product and you draining your mind by doing this. You have to think for almost a day, then write, and now you have to advertise it to get readers.

You won't easily get rich to any type of career you'are pursuing right now even blogging or anything. All requires a lot of considerations including sacrifices before you can finally taste the success. I believe there's no short cut to achieve it. But the key points in your article are really helpful and give us some important reminder when doing a blog and for making our thoughts into the reality.

I agree. In fact, blogging is one of the hardest job that you can do. Even those people who are really obsess with writing still find it not so easy in which time, resources, and effort you are consuming for blogging. Blogging can be stressful most of the time. Sometimes focusing on your writing pulling out so much of your energy, so yes I agree it is not really so easy.

I am no expert when it comes to video editing hence I had this dream of starting up my website and be a blogger instead. The only thing that's preventing me from doing so is the niche. What category should I blog about? How would I approach it? SEO? Traffic? There are a lot of things to consider, and I am too afraid to venture into it knowing that I have to invest so much time and maybe a sum of money to get it going with no guarantee of success. I'll have to do more research and maybe in the future, I will.

Honestly, you have to love the niche you want your blog/website to be about otherwise you will get bored. I had this idea to create a forum (if you know me, you would know I think forums are dying out) based upon a nice I am very invested in. I do not know how much success I will have with this forum, but I am hoping it will take off. With this said, make sure whatever you do, that you LOVE the niche/topic/whatever it is you're doing. You do not want to do something for sometime and then quit it because you are not happy.

I thank you for the excellent advice. I agree that you need to love what you do in order to be passionate about it. I just don't know what niche to pick at this time.

Hats off to you for knowing what you truly want and passionate about. I hope the forum that you'll create make it big someday. I do agree though that forums are dying out and technology is making way for social media platforms for online discussions. I guess we all have to adapt to change at some point. All the best!

I think it's important that on the onset your blogs will already look professional. It will be difficult for a beginner to do this so I think it's one of the things that beginners like me should invest on. It doesn't mean though that we have to spend that much. He's given recommendation which I believe is worth checking. The visitors will initially see how the blogs appear before they get engaged. It will already create an impression and hence it's something that we should not overlook.

Your article is very informative and can be helpful for aspiring bloggers. Blogging is not so easy. You may need to create a lot of articles and wait for the right time. It may take months or sometime a year to achieve the success. But no matter how difficult it is, your hard work will be paid off in God's perfect time.

I agree too, we can use our passion now to write or blog to earn. Just like everyone's advised, more practices makes perfect. Your only investment here is your time, so we really need to give extra time when doing this though we are really enjoying writing whats on our mind. Same thing how we love watching the sea dances from the shore. Satisfying just like when we write.

Being successful in blogging doesnt take overnight. If its a long process, why not write about the things you really like about. If you like what you are writing about then you shouldnt be worried about the success of your blog and waste your time. You just have submit yourself to the process and be ready to face challenges ahead in writing. Go on just keep on writing.

I am challenged to reply because of that line that says the ranking doesn’t come up with a single blog post. But that can happen when you get lucky that one of your blogs get viral. With the huge traffic that your site gets I think the search engines will surely notice that and will affect the ranking of your site. But I know that we cannot rely on luck alone. I am just pointing out a phenomenon maybe.

Blogging seems to still be one of the major income generates for online business. If you have a niche blog and can keep the blog current and updated it will generate income for you. Once your blog has been established it is time to sign up with a few affiliate websites and promote and sell their products and services on your blog site. Another great way to generate income is by selling ad space on your blog site.

Today blogs are still important and people seek information online. If you can provide what they need and help them out then you can succeed as a blogger online and generate a nice income for you each month. Take example the blog called Penny Horder. This was started by a college student who was broke and had no way to pay his rent. He started to write blog posts about how he can pinch a penny and how he can save money. This took off and now this blog site is worth millions and he no longer writes on the site but pays people to do this for him.

I have a few blogs and sometimes it feels so lonely on them! I am reading and noting how to make them work and get more footfall. Your post will come in very useful when I start to work on them.

Most of the reason they do not is because I love to write and do not particularly like doing the rest of the work you need to do to get seen. If I had the money, I would pay someone to do it, but I don't.

My best blog was a devotional every morning back in the days when SEO and the like was not talked about yet and Facebook was not even a thought in the mind of the inventor. Way back then, you just told your friends and hoped a few of them might read you. They did as most of them thought the Internet a very scary place and so if you wrote a blog you were clever.

A lot of people tend to think that they will make millions if they become a blogger. I once knew this coworker (from a different country, came on a worker type visa) and her dream was to become a blogger (not a vlogger) and get rich. She wanted to do beauty and makeup. I point blank told her to stick to her day job because the market is saturated for that kind of blog and that she has dreams that she will not be able to achieve. She set her goals to be basically insane, to the point where she would not reach them. She wanted to be better than "NikkieTutorials", or "Michele phan" (top influencers in the beauty niche via youtube).

If you ever blog, do not think automatically the money will roll in, that your adsense will pay the bills and buy you a 5 million dollar mansion. You need to build an audience, which takes FOREVER. Your audience, will need to trust you. This takes a LOT of time. It will not happen instantly as most people think. Think again.

Now you may think I was a little bit harsh to that girl, but she is a dreamer. She knows nothing of marketing, advertising or how blogging platforms really work. She just wanted to become insanely rich off of her blog and basically do nothing. Blogging takes a lot of work, and it's not just writing 500-1000 word articles with a few sponsored links thrown in.

So, I always admire people who can create a lot of content in a week while letting the quality stay and flourish. I am very interested in blogging and planning to earn from blogging as well, but at the moment, I don't have enough time to dedicate for blogging, hence I am putting this plan on hold. I agree that we have to be patient and consistent, and understand the blog just won't be famous in one day, one month or even one year, and money won't come as quick as we hope it does. I have always read that it's good not to just think about making money, but to think about how we can serve others and offers good things to others. I am grateful for many successful bloggers who are willing to share some tips and guidelines, so we can learn from them. Thank you for sharing the list. You are one of the great writers that I am always thankful for as you always share many good tips to us.
