Repurposing content isn't the newest trick in the book, but it's a good one that continuously feeds the content monster that is Google and the other search engines. Repurposing content isn't a difficult thing to do because you're either rewriting old content in a way that makes it unique or your using your titles and quotes within social media and marketing in order to increase exposure and engagement within your own blog.
Repurposing your content could simply be you changing the format of something you already did, making it unique in the eyes of the readers. You can get more out of your content if you do this and it helps you hit multiple different platforms at the same time. Repurposing content is a great way to write one piece of content and focusing on the promotion of that content more than writing multiple articles every single day within your industry.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again, only rewrite and repurpose content from the past that has actually shown some success. You don't want to waste your time on something that didn't have any success, because it likely won't have any success again. By repurposing the content that already had some success, you know it has a good chance at being successful again with your readers.
Repurposing your content isn't the easiest thing to do if you don't have any direction, so here are 4 great ways to repurpose your successful posts from the past.
Transcribe audio into text
This is a great way to get content for your own blog as well as third part websites you're trying to build up your own authority on. You can hire someone to do this, or you can do it yourself, and it shouldn't break the bank. Audio can't be recognized by the search engines just yet, so if you have transcribed audio on your website, you could actually rank for various terms that your competitors are trying to rank for with audio promotions.
Infographics are fun and useful
Infographics are actually a great way to create engagement within your blog as well as on social media. People love statistics and images, and that's basically what an infographic is! People like infographics because it's loaded with need to know information and it gets right to the point without any sort of fluff to read around.
You can repurpose your blog content, quotes and anything else you can think of into an infographic that your industry will love. If you're not great with Photoshop, it's not the end of the world! There are plenty of free services online that can help you with infographics, and they usually have plenty of free templates you can use and just add your own info
Convert your content into a PowerPoint
Slideshare is a great place to post PowerPoint presentations and it's free to use. Slideshare is owned by LinkedIn and you can actually cross share your PowerPoints between the two platforms, which is pretty great. Not only will you get some traffic from your slides, you will boost your SEO through the links created in the text section of the PowerPoints.
I've had a lot of fun using SlideModel in order to quickly create PowerPoint presentations for Slideshare. You can get everything done a lot quicker, and we all know that time is money
Repurpose your quotes
One of the best ways to get repurpose your content is to use your quotes in image form. How many times have you been on Instagram and saw an inspirational quote on someones profile and it was like 10,000+ times? You can use plenty of free tools to do this, and they will make images that can be used on various platforms, not just Instagram.
Posting images with your quotes in them usually have a great response rate on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, and even Google Plus. I've never seen much success with them on Twitter, but then again I'm not the best at using Twitter because it's not one of my top 3 networks I focus on.
In Conclusion
Repurposing your content doesn't have to be a time consuming thing that feels like a burden, it's just a different way to market the content you've already spent plenty of time on. Plenty of people have seen success through repurposing content, so you should take a stab at it and see where your business goes
