Do you get inspired by other blogs?

Hey everybody,

when you are a writer and a content maker, whether it's for your own website or as a part of your freelancing job, it can be hard to get inspired.

I often read other people's blogs just to get an idea from which I can write a great article. I just love to get inspired like that because it takes a certain level of creativity to not just copy their work.

What about you? Do you ever look for inspiration in other people's blogs and articles?

Yes, I personally get inspiration from others because it is hard to invent something you don;t have. I get inspirations and lessons from other blogs. I follow their way of writing contents and topics to choose from are endless.

That's right. ;)

It really is very complicated to create a vision about what you don't have or that you have never lived. You must see another person's point of view to have something "concrete" and begin to develop their own point of view.

Nobody is born a genius, you have to start from studying others works and from there lay foundation on where and how to kick off your own legacy.

So therefore, everything is first made possible from reading other people's work and learn the basis of operation, then probably spice up your own content writing.

This is such a good point. I remember a movie I saw years ago, about the Marquis De Sade while he was incarcerated, called QUILLS. A priest come in to speak to De Sade, and the prisoner is wanting to write all of the time and not read. They have taken away his writing materials because of the vile things he was creating. Anyway, the priest says to De Sade, "Ah, a writer who writes more than he reads; that is the mark of a rank amateur". I have often though of this quote when thinking of the nature of writing and how we need to constantly be studying and reading the works of others in order to improve upon our own craft. Your post made me think of this for some reason.

I agree with this. There are a lot of great blogs out there and you almost can't help but be inspired by them. I personally think that it would be hard not to be inspired by some of the great blogs that are out there.

I have a Feedly account that haves over 500 blogs in it. It is hard to keep track of all of them, not to mention reading them, but I do try reading at least the headlines to understand the general idea and if it resonates with me I save that article for a later read.

I also get plenty ideas only by reading the titles. I not those ideas and I later comes back to them to write a piece on every single subject I noted. It is not always the on the same subject, reading a specific title may inspire me to write on a totally different subject that is mildly related to the original title.

In the end, every writer needs inspiration.

Such a nice plan you have and one that is beneficial to a good freelancer like you. I would try to get a feedly account and see how to take it up from there.

I have never heard of feedly but I will probably create an account over there like you Barida and see what happens after that. It seems like a good website and I'm sure it will help us both get some inspiration for content for our blogs.

@Cristian over 500 blogs is huge for one to be able to cover up all articles posted there, but it's appropriate on how you choose to narrow down the ones to take serious and ones to skip over from the content of the headlines. This is definitely going to make your work a little bit easier for you.

But in truth, there are people who don't know how to caption a heading in articles but they actually know what to write, so it would also be nice if you find little time to just read the first paragraph of each article, that would absolutely show you if the writer have anything to offer.

Damn, 500? That's a crazy number for me. I only follow around 20 or so and even those, I don't have time to read all of them consistently.

But I do a similar thing as you quite often. If I don't have a lot of spare time then I will just glance at the titles and try to look for a few good ideas. It works well.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Corzhens
That is the problem if you are a blog lover because you cannot read all the blogs that you like. In your case that 500 blogs is overwhelming in numbers and I can’t imagine how you get to read all of them even for the titles only. You have to spend a lot of time just to check on all the blogs even if you are reading only the title. My take on blogs is just 10 or 20 at the most in order to be manageable.

Yes. Not just for blogs but for the personalities behind them and their ideas. Do you get inspired by other blogs?

I like to know that there are people who think just like me, just as I like to know that there are people who can totally think the opposite. But above all, there must be empathy for the content to be discussed. Not that I ignore the subjects that I don't like, but I prefer not to enter into discussion.

Ideas matter too for it is the bedrock of every super content. Understanding the points they're trying to make is a good way to go.

I think that we all read blogs for the same reasons. I like blogs which challenge me because their philosophies about things are so different than mine. I like to feel this kind of friction so that I get my critical thinking juices going. However, I also like blogs which are like-minded in terms of my own personal sensibilities and preferences because, like you said above, these types of blogs validate us and make us feel kindred to others, etc.

I read lots of blogs on a daily basis and try as much as I could to understand what moat of them are really trying to say. It's not always easy, but understanding the essence of these blogs mater to me.

I get inspired by blogs and bloggers. I take inspiration from my blogger friends as well as competitors. Recently, I was on a forum where a blogger started a thread about a review blog. After going through the discussion, I got an idea. My idea was to launch a review blog (all kinds of reviews, from books and movies to games and products). I could promote the product with the reviews.

Off course I get very inspired by other peoples blog post and articles. It isn't just the blog but the contents if the blog. And secondly, it also depends on what you perceive as inspiration.

I've come across this blog, Design Life recently. Every post on that site to me is something of inspiration since it motivates.

I do get inspired by many blogs. It's just that these days due to other projects and constraints. I find it harder to write on my multiple other blogs. And making money off them on regular interval is a bit harder. You can see that in such case it's not going to be an easy task to get inspired by blogs such as them. I don't know how many people follow other peoples formula for the blog promotion. But it seems like it's kind of harder that way.

I have gotten ideas from other people's blogs, but rarely inspires. However, there is that rare occasion when I see someone doing something that really takes things to the next level. Wehn you find something like that, it can take you in very different directions.

Yes--I totally get inspired by other blogs and by good content and good writing in general. Sometimes, I even get jealous, and this makes me want to improve my own blogs and writing even more! I have always been moved by those who have a way with words, and there is a ton of good content out there, whether it be about music, travel, food. literature, movies, you name it! I also appreciate blogs which educate and inform me in some way as well. Not every blog out there inspires me, and some I can't tolerate or frequent for a variety of reasons, but I have found some that I go back to on a regular basis, and I do find those inspiring.

There are people who are into blogging just for the sake let me try it out, and once you come across such there is no way anything found in it would inspire you because it wasn't done with complete determination and good plan.

But once you get in contact with ones that know what they are doing, definitely you are going to be inspired and moved by what you find on their blog.

My aspiration to become a blogger actually begun when I become interested in reading other people's blogs. It inspired me to learn how to create my own blogs. And every time I'm stuck or not motivated to write, I would go back and read blogs that inspired me before. Doing so gives me strength and new hope to continue striving and learning and put my brain to work to produce great ideas.

Sure,I read others content when I want to write on a topic, just to see what has already been written and with that I done with and I go back to writing mine so as not to copy the content but as you stated it takes a creative mind to write an entirely different thing but the good thing is that it is doable.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Even if someone has done a writing on a topic you wish to write about, without having to read his or her, there is no way you are going to write exactly the same thing such person did.

Personally, I prefer doing my own article and after consult other's work to compare and contrast my own work to see if I need to make any amends with what I have done.

Yes, I get inspired by other blogs whenever I want to post comments to other people's websites or blogs. I learn many things from other people's brand and try imitating others in adding lots of quality to my own blog. Learning by imitation is one of those habits that should be inculcated by every blog owner in order to be successful in running a blog. Nobody is an embodiment of knowledge. We try learning from one another and use what we learn in practical things we do in life.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

i like your comment here about imitating other blogs which you find successful. I think that we all do ths in all of our pursuits in life, to a degree. We see things that are working and successful, and then we want to emulate them. I once heard a quote that "a good poet does not borrow; he steals". This is different than "copying" someone--you TAKE the idea and expound and build upon it and make it your own. The chain of learning which you are talking about here is essential to all of our potential for growth, whether online, offline, or in our professional or personal lives across the board.

Yeah, it's a good thing to look at some other blogs because it allows you to get a good idea at some content ideas and it may actually improve your writing as well because you can learn different types of writing and different techniques from the content writers on that blog. If you need some content ideas, its also good to look at other blogs because looking at particular content might give you another idea about other content.

I like how you focus on the ways that reading other blogs can be an exercise in improving your own writing and our own ideas as we digest the content of others and evolve intellectually and linguistically. It's a cool idea that we can use the reading of blogs as an exercise in honing our own content and approaches to content creation. Also, you are alluding to getting ideas from the content of the blogs you read which you can apply to the next blog or content-set which you write. It's like building upon a long constant train of thought which thread its way from reader to writer to writer to reader....

Who doesn't need inspiration in anything he or she is engaged in? We all do, and when it comes to reading blogs and content write ups, once such articles are written with detailed informative facts, there is a very good chance of such inspiring other people.

Personally, I do derive inspiration from one or two blogs that I participate in. Some gives you detailed information about something which I never had clue towards before, but my participation in the community helped get my exposed to such content writing. It's definitely a good inspiring tool in my point of view.

I do, but I wouldn't call it as much inspiration as just more of a blueprint. For the most part, I just look to other blogs to see what I should be doing on my own. I started my blog for my own reasons and I wasn't really all that inspired by other blogs, but I did have to do some research on how those other ones were structured, so I can better build my own. I think this step is important and mostly overlooked by most when it comes to building a site, but it really is a very good step to take even though technically it wouldn't be a requirement.

I also started mine without being inspired by other blogs. I was never reading other blogs until after I started mine. So reading other blogs helps me to know the different ways I can present a blog to make it look neat.

Yes, I get inspired by the people who have success, but I also realize that success is based on luck only because I see blogs that are 100x better than the successful blog, but they have no traffic. Me personally the inspiration that I get is to never give up and keep on making my website to the best of my ability and realize that I have better odds of being struck by lighting then have my blog take off. And I know some of you might think that I don't have enough self-confidence, but it's just the simple fact that 95% of the websites on the internet don't make a dime.

Nowadays with so many blogs on internet is even impossible to come up with 100% unique idea in any niche, so most of the people looking at other similar blogs / websites in same or similar niches and making something similar with their own twist, which is not bad idea at all i guess, except if you become someone's copy Do you get inspired by other blogs?

Yes I do get inspired by other people's blogs. I also hope mine inspires my readers.
Getting to read what other writers wrote and being touched by their words is very inspiring. Not every blog can achieve this. I like reading articles that inspire me.

I do not really blog so I will say what I get inspired by from websites. I program php scripts, as some of you may know, and I get inspiration from money making websites. What I mean by money making websites is websites that either allow users to make money, or websites that have amassed a lot of money from their website. I like to basically clone websites but add my own spin to them, and then sell the php script of the website. This is where I get my inspiration. This is sort of copying a website, maybe not much inspiration but it allows me to create php scripts based on an idea that many people are using to earn money online.

Another way I get inspiration is from google trends and searches. If I see a popular search or keyword for a website I would go to website and see if I can replicate it, code it, package it all up and sell the php script. I like creating clones because people are already aware of such websites, and some even want their own website like the ones they use on a daily basis. So this is basically where my 'inspiration' comes from.

To had to all these contributions above, reading other blog contents help in a way, to improve your art and what you do. When you go through other blogs and contents you will be alarmed to see some few things you didn't know, sometimes we humans feel like we know everything and don't want to learn from others, but when you go through other blogs you will find out amazing things that will just keep you going.

Reading other people blogs and contents shows how much you really want to learn, if you get to do things methods change everyday reading through blogs will empower you on that, awareness is a key to understanding reading other blogs is just like an app stock to your brain it updates and improve your thinking faculty. I read various blogs everyday no matter how busy I am, even when I work I see blog reading as a push for me to do something and know how to do it well, today I was reading something on one of those blogs about the human body and its capacity I never knew anything about it even my biology textbook didn't teach me about it. When going through other blogs, pick those topic of interests that you would like to know, from there you will find out that you will read others that don't even concern what you were looking for and get inspired.

I am definitely influenced by good blogs. That is one of the reasons why I agreed to write a blog when I was invited to be a co-blogger because I had wanted to come up with good articles like those blogs that I had been reading. Whenever I would read a good blog, my enthusiasm would tell me to write a better one to top it. Don’t get mistaken, I don’t write the same topic, I just gather the enthusiasm to push me in writing a better blog.

Yes, I get inspired by other blogs. Sometimes while reading in the middle of it, you'll get an idea that is slightly deviated from the blog itself but an all new topic all together. So yes, you get inspired to write something new from a blog you have just read. It is like building up another complete creation from a piece of a creation kind of thing. It's hard to come up with an idea, or topic from scratch, but when you get to be inspired from little things, and other blogs, that's great. For as long as your creation is not a copy of the blog you were reading then you're good to go.

Yeah, and actually by watching some video blogs. Specially if I'm looking for some information, and the blogger really did great job to explain exactly what I'm looking for. I got the inspiration from them, but right now, I want to develop my writing, so, I keep searching for an article to read, and somehow get more information if how to write blogs.
