What would you say is the most lucrative social media platform?

Social media. I think we can all agree that in terms of marketing, it is the way of the future, and the future is now. From small businesses to industry juggernauts, marketers are taking advantage of social media to advertise and sell their products to the masses. Whether it's Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter, today's entrepreneur has a wide array of tools at his/her disposal. However the question stands, which social media platform should you focus on most?

Some would say it is Facebook. With 1.2 billion active users, one can't deny that you can certainly cast out a pretty wide net when it comes to marketing on this website. However, some people seem to have more success with sites like Instagram or Twitter. Sporting smaller numbers than that of Facebook (with Instagram at 800 million active users, and Twitter with just under 400 million), one would think their potential for success would be lower.

Not so. For example, a friend of mine recently started his own business. Currently his Facebook business page has a mere 50 followers, which could hardly be considered an audience. On the other hand, his Instagram page features over 20K followers and growing! Both pages were started at the same time, and marketed equally, so it cannot be said that one had a better start over the other.

So in your experience, which social media platform have you received the most attention on, and why do you think that is so?

I have focused on several social media sites for promotion, but so far Twitter and Facebook are the best. After that Pinterest, Google Plus, and Tumblr. Then, I use whatever else is available.

Top 15 Most Popular Social Networking Sites and Apps (October 2017)

Instagram. YouTube, Reddit and something called VK are on this list. But I have not had any success with them.

In your choice between Twitter and Facebook, which do you think is the most effective in terms of user engagement? I have many friends who are doing their marketing activities on Facebook that sometimes I tend to hide their posts that are annoying. One such drop shipper sometimes would make 5 posts of the new products that she is selling and when my internet access is slow it is really annoying to scroll down slowly just to see her marketing posts.

In my humble opinion, in terms of engagement, I would say Facebook. But that's my own fault as I don't engage very much via Twitter. I might report different results if I did.

Based on everything I have read (at least until this very moment) and considering my use with each one of them, my order (of importance) would look like this:

1. Facebook
2. Twitter
3. Google Plus
4. Pinterest
5. Tumblr

Facebook comes first because I think the reach it can have is immense (considering how globally it's known and how it's tries to always maintain greater rapprochement with users... which for me, it's something very important).

There are two things I find interesting about your list. For one thing, many would agree that Instagram has become one of the most popular social media platforms. Is there any particular reason you didn't include it in your list? The other oddity (at least in my opinion) is Google Plus. As much as I don't want to call Google Plus a failed endeavor, it seemed to me like Google Plus barely had any growth in popularity, and then simply began to stagnate and fall into irrelevancy over time. Have you had success with it?

I disagree with Google Plus being so high up. I would have thought that you would put a site like LinkedIn up on the third position especially considering how much better it is compared to Google Plus. Google Plus was a massive failure and very few users actually use it regularly especially compared to the big boys (Facebook, Twitter & LinkedIn). It's just not worth spending your time marketing your business on there.

There is no longer any point in including Google Plus since there was an announcement that the social network will close down sometime during 2019.

Well, based on statistics and in accordance with my experience. I would say it's Instagram, it might not be the most popular, but for me it's the most lucrative and that's the place where I have gotten much attention. Although I don't use Facebook, I just don't like it, but it will take the second place, then followed by twitter.

The most effective social media is the one where you have most of your clients and customers. For example, if your clients and customers are mostly women, you can reach more women if you use Pinterest. Pinterest has more women users than men. If you are targeting young people you will have to use Instagram where youngsters are concentrated. If your customers are people between the age group of 45-55, you can benefit from facebook and twitter.

I think it still depends on your demographic. If you cater more to a niche audience then you should just go where that audience typically congregates. I don't think there is one ultimate answer, but I guess in general either Facebook or Instagram would be a good choice these days. I would also include Twitter, but nowadays I think they are not as strong as they used to be, although still very influential.

I definitely agree with a lot of the comments here, like yours, which emphasize the importance of identifying your demographic and which platform they are most likely to use. As another commenter stated, for example, if you're aiming to target a female audience in particular you're likely to find more luck on Pinterest. Platforms like Instagram and Snapchat seem to be perfect for targeting younger demographics. And Facebook, like I said, is generally open. I think a good strategy would be to zero in on maybe three platforms, all the while diverting traffic from one to the other through marketing and promotion.

For me so far Pinterest, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter works. I have no success with the tumblr, google plus and few others. Snapchat is one of the worst for me. I am not sure if I should be even bothered to use it. I think it's going to be a waste of time and resources. But I think twitter and pinterest are good enough. And I can make sure to invest some time and automate the rest. That should surely work as well.I think some social media networks work for specific niche but not all for sure. That's something we do by trial and error.

I don't think you should even be surprised at Google Plus not working for you. I think that we can all agree that Google gave a fair shot in attempting to start a new social networking site, but it just wasn't meant to be. I think people talked about it for a few weeks upon release (and barely any of those conversations were positive) before it just ended up fading into irrelevancy. Pinterest is one of those sites that fascinates me. I made a Pinterest account quite a while ago but never really used it. I need to familiarize myself with it, as it looks uniquely different from other social media platforms.

I have been using different social media sites to advertise my products and I have been more successful on Facebook. My friends have also helped me to grow my Facebook page. It seems very difficult for me to attract customers on the other social networks even if I advertise for my products.

I have gotten much from using Facebook for it has made me make better sales by advertising on the platforms. I always believe that with the large numbers of users of the social media network, that it is the most lucrative social media platform around.

Facebook is probably the best at the moment. Twitter is probably in second place for me but a long way behind Facebook. The thing with Twitter is that it is great for fun brands that can take advantage of things like memes and trends. It's not exactly the best platform for serious and professional businesses due to its large young userbase. Facebook, on the other hand, has such a diverse and large audience that most businesses can benefit from using it.

I think there is no comparison between Facebook and other sorts of media. It i just one of the best ways to make sure that you have all your bases convered. You can use whatever social media platform you want but Facebook is number one in terms of platforms to use.

In my opinion, Reddit is the best as it is getting to be very popular. The only thing about Reddit you got to be careful what you share on there. So the best way is to be part of the community before sharing links and make sure you share them in the right place. Other than that Facebook and Twitter are my next favourite social media sites.

I'm a huge fan of Reddit, and honestly I'm a little bit addicted to it. There is such an absurd amount of content there that you can just browse all day. However I certainly do agree that you have to be careful about what you share. I think when trying to promote your content on Reddit you have to be really tactical about it. From my eyewitness experiences, unless you're on a Subreddit created for the sole purpose of self promotion, the community there doesn't really take too kindly to advertising yourself. Most successful ad campaigns seem to happen by sharing gifs or images related to your content, without outright looking like you're trying to promote it. You have to be sneaky about it.

Barring sharing my articles to get views I have not felt the need to talk about anything else through media contacts. I was wondering if Whats app could be a better place as it is so handy and with just a click you can send your message to a whole lot of users.

I really do think Facebook is hands down the top social media platform for marketing. The problem with small businesses is that Facebook has made it very hard to grow without spending money. So, it means doing a little extra work, like providing incentives for employees to share content on their personal profiles. With the sheer number of people on Facebook, and the amount of time that people are spending there, means it is the top platform... generally speaking, of course. A business always has to take a close look at their ideal customer and target audience. Some groups are not very active on Facebook, which would make other platforms a better option.

If I am asked which of the social media platforms is the most lucrative, I would say Facebook is the one. Facebook is the social media plaform with almost the largest number of users across the world. Other social media platforms equally have large populations, but Facebook has its advertising program which makes it more lucrative than others.

Facebook now has 2 billion users and that’s a huge number to consider. Getting a thousand friends in Facebook is easy. All you have to do is to send a friend request relentlessly and for sure, some of those will accept you. In my opinion, Facebook is the most potent avenue in promoting your interest because of the dynamism of users there. Your timeline will prove the activity of your friends and that makes it lucrative for a platform.

The most lucrative social media platform is Facebook. It's the largest social media network with over one billion members from all parts of the world. Facebook has a premium marketing platform aside from the social platform. The Facebook marketing section is meant for advertisers who wish to drive a lot of customers to their websites. Facebook has the largest traffic potential among the social networks.
