Branding an item, or service, the right way can bring in a higher profit per sale

If you're just staring off, you might not be ready to get into branding your website or business.  But what I'd like to tell you is that branding should start from day 1 and never stop until the business is sold or goes under.  Not branding from the beginning will just put you behind when you do eventually start to get into branding your company, products or services.  Some of you are saying "Well I just don't have the money to start branding right away!" and that's completely false.  If you have enough money to start your website or company, you have enough money to start branding right away.

Branding starts with how people see you.  This means you can use your logo, website design, business cards, flyers, pamphlets, news posts, guest posts, article posts, blog posts, etc. in order to get people to see you how you want to be seen.  Sure, some of these examples will cost you some money to get done, but some of the better ways are completely free and just take some time investment Branding an item, or service, the right way can bring in a higher profit per sale

Why you should start branding right away
Branding takes time, and a decent amount of effort, to be seen how you want to.  When you're running a branding campaign, it will take months or years before everything starts to gain traction, and you'll be happy you started from day one.  Starting in 6 months or a year from now just means you could have already been seen as an authority within your industry and making more money than what you currently would be.  What you need to think of first is how you want to be portrayed within your niche, and attack that.  Usually your business will reflect your personality, which means you can usually write up all your own content and be seen how you want.  If you have a writer doing all of your content, you will need to explain to them how you want everything written up so that you're seen in the right light.

What you can start branding with a little investment

  1. Your Content:  Like I mentioned, you can start off with your own content and content that you'll be posting on third party websites.  This content will consist of ad copy, website content, articles, blog posts, etc.  Write this up so it's high quality and also readable in order for people to understand it.
  2. Your Logo:  Not many people think about branding their logos because it's just a logo.  Well this is how second and third place winners think, so stay ahead of them and brand your logo.  Do some research and figure out what your competition is doing in terms of log designs, then try to mimic them as well as add your own flare to the logo.  If you're hiring someone to do your design, which I highly suggest if you don't know what you're doing, link to your competitors as examples so your designer knows what you're looking to do.  Point out what you like and dislike about your competitors and I'm sure your designer will knock out something good for you Branding an item, or service, the right way can bring in a higher profit per sale
  3. Your Design:  A website is similar to a business card, if you're not showing who you are within the design, you won't be able to portray who you are.  A website design will help with your branding because someone will come to your homepage, or subpage, and see something they like which will imprint on their memory and hopefully keep them coming back.

Why branding early on will get you top dollar later
When some companies start off they don't think they will be able to charge a premium for their products since there are dozens of other people within the same industry pushing similar products.  I want you to know that once you get to the to of the mountain and are seen as the main authority within your industry, you can charge whatever you want for your products or services!  This is because people want the best of the best and are willing to pay for it.  How many times have you seen Apple INC. launch a new iPhone and charge a ridiculous amount for it?  Recently they just launched that iPhone X (or something like that) and charged $999 for the phone.  Masses of Apple followers will buy the phone even though it has 99.9% of the same features as every other phone out there *cough* Samsung Galaxy Phones *cough*

People are so dedicated to Apple because they claim to be the best in the world when it comes to their devices, even though it's not really true.  If you look through all the specs from the iPhones and all the top competitors, they're eerily similar.  Apple just branded their business in a way that they put themselves on top of the mountain in the beginning, without scaling it, and their following decided "Apple is the best of the best, I need them!" lol.

In Conclusion:
You need to be branding your logos, design, products, services, etc. in the beginning in order to get top dollar later on.  You will already be behind your competition when you start, but if you portray yourself as the best, and keep it up, people will begin to see you as the best and invest in you Branding an item, or service, the right way can bring in a higher profit per sale

I can see where branding could be helpful as long as people enjoy and benefit from your brand. Not everyone has a brand they can stand behind though, nor one that attracts users. I think it is something that is different for different people honestly.

I agree with you here. How should your brand be constructed? Just to get an audience? Just to make money? Or should your brand be authentic to its content regardless of what may or may not happed according to traffic or an audience?

Yes, I think these are the questions people need to ask themselves before they start with the idea of branding. It is an interesting concept but one that needs to be explored thoroughly before just doing it. This is my opinion anyway.

Exactly, and I think that it is really important to be able to believe in your brand. If you are doing things only to make money or only to be successful, your work can become empty, stressful, inauthentic, and tedious. I think that we should strive to represent our true selves in our work, and when we do, our customers can really feel it, and their trust keeps them with us, and they tell others about us and get us new customers as well.

I find branding a hard task to do because you have to do it continuously for a long time. When you are a freelancer for forum posting like me, branding is not that easy because it is actually the reputation that I earn from my peers. Maybe after all these years in my freelancing, so many have known me by name and there are those who know me by my reputation in posting. That is what I meant by branding yourself as a good freelancer.

Logo design, stationary and the packaging definitely matters. You have to be very clear of how you are branding the items. You can't do the branding overnight. You have to get few things wrong. And that seems to be the way it can be changed. You have to go through iteration. I have seen plenty of brands going through changes every now and then. So it can be possible for many brands to get adjusted in due time.

I think if you are into dropshipping many alibaba and aliexpress people allow you to do the branding. So it's definitely possible. And in fact selling after branding can be good option too.

I think that it IS important to realize that brands and packaging change with successful companies. We get things right through experimentation and through communication with our customers, so it would be silly to think our first try was going to be perfect and everlasting.

I have seen some of the brands going on with old logo for years. And it worked out for them. But for each type of the company it can be different. And yes I must say packaging definitely has a role to play. People are going to be different in how they are working on the type of the products they have. I am guessing it'd be lot harder in due process too to relaunch and manage. In many ways this seems to be the things we learn as we go ahead in the business.

Branding is such an important thing but I think a lot of people make a huge mistake by not focusing on it enough. Even such a simple thing like a logo can be extremely important to making a bigger profit in the longer run. Your example of Apple and iPhones is probably the best. Apple's brand image is excellent and because of that, they can charge almost anything for their new products. And because of that, they are able to charge a minimum of $1000 for their latest iPhone. It's crazy but people still pay that price because of the brand.

Branding is definitely important. This will for sure grant you more success especially if you are operating in a competitive environment. Once people get used to a particular brand then normally they won't be switching to any other brands. I have never really heard an iPhone user wanting to buy an android phone. The Apple experience in itself is different. There are so many success stories. If you want to be successful then you can do it too. Everything is possible with determination and hard work.

Branding or watermarking your productions is very important to prevent theft as well. Many people like to grab designs and pass them off as their own or use them without permission. If you want to make a design free for public use, that's all well and good. But anything you think you've worked hard on and is considered one of your best productions to date, should be watermarked until a copy is purchased for a fee.

Truly, Branding your items, services or products will definitely increase sales at geometric rates. That's the secret with people in the world. Business entrepreneurs have come to realize this fact nowadays that you cannot make sales without branding and packaging your items, products or services. No matter how gifted, talented or endowed you might be, all that is nothing unless your business is well branded.

If you create a website for your business, you must brand it in order to get ranked in google and other search engines like Yahoo, Bing, and so on.

When you said it may take years for your branding to be established, it looks like a long day for that chore. But I agree that content is still the king even for branding so you have to continue with the regular uploading of your original contents. It’s even better if you are the one doing the writing because it is your footprint that readers can see. And when the time comes that you start to reap the rewards, it will be smooth sailing from then on.
