Should we use Reddit more, for either promoting our own blogs and websites? Reddit is a powerful social network and if used correctly you could drive a lot of traffic to your website. The more upvotes you get the more the better chance you have of getting the first page of Reddit.
To get that far takes time and effort, With the right niche and content this could also give you a great earning in Adsense. That is if you are using Adsense to monetize your site. I do prefer Reddit just recently then Facebook, Yeah Facebook allows you to create pages and groups and invite others, but also Reddit you can do the same but its all in one and they call them Subreddits. In which you can create as many subreddits as you like. You do have to put in some work before you can create one.
So if you're thinking of creating a subreddit please you can't just create an account and then create a subreddit. If you been on Reddit a while and have the Karma points then you should be able to create one. If not then start been helpful on Reddit comment and ask questions get that Karma points up.
Once you have and want to create one all you do then is go on Reddit.com/reddits/create but also a tip do a search on your niche first. Sometimes you will try to create one but the page may already exist so do a bit of research first.
Like you see the Image above, the name will be the URL so for example reddit.com/r/example . This can not be changed once you save it at the bottom of the page when saving your details.
Title try to think of a good title to go with your niche, followed by Description of your subreddit. The sidebar comes in handy as this will be the main information you can add for Redditors when they are on your page. This will be shown below the subscribe button this is less the first thing they see apart from the main page. The more subs you get the better your page will grow. Try to add some rules as well put as much effort and content into this as you possibly can.
Once you are all done a great suggestion, Optional to do but I use it and it is effective. Go to the reddit.com/r/naut and download the Naut Reddit theme which will give you images and the main CSS codes. This will change your page layout and will look a lot better and more responsive too.

I agree--this post was a great introduction for me as well. I have not yet delved into Reddit. My roommate is actually a very prominent moderator there, but I have not yet gotten an account or experimented with this format. I see a lot of potential here, though, and it seems that every day I come across new and viable things to explore from reading these forums.kgord,

This is really informative so big thank you for that. I have already tried using Reddit in the past but with very little success in regards to SEO.
Recently I've also read a guide on how to reach the first page rank on Google using virtually any keyword you want but it best works with the long tail ones. I am not sure if the reddit has the buyers. Most of the reddit users have adbockers. So getting conversion is really hard. And for this same reason you can see that reddit is something one has to consider for exposure. Or you can also consider it for the brand building. What's the use of the traffic if the people use adblocker and are not buyers. I am not denying reddit has some good users. But they are overly protective and paranoid. You can see that many people are in loss by promoting to the reddit follks. So not sure how good it is for sales if we promote through reddit. I believe that Reddit can be an excellent way to promote our own blogs and websites.It is important to make sure that the subreddit is moderated well so that the posts are relevant and do not contain unnecessary spam. Very good information in this post. A friend of mine was able to sell a lot of things by using reddit, it's a big community and you are destined to find someone who is interested in your services. I personally doubt that using Reddit for SEO would be an excellent idea; specially if you rely on it that much. One thing that I notice on Reddit is that it's users are only there for one or two reasons, and if not they mostly have the same interests as to why they are using Reddit. Most of them have ad blocker addons that's why it will be kind of hard to make use of Reddit. And you might get reported for spam content if you are unlucky. I have been using Reddit for I'd say about seven years now, so I think it is safe to say that I'm fairly familiar with the community. That being said, the people there typically aren't exactly open to your average advertising campaign. You have to be very strategic with how you promote your content there, as you can end up getting some pretty bad backlash for self promoting. Safe to say that the community can be toxic at times.
However, if you can blend with the community and post in such a way that isn't obvious you're advertising or promoting, then you can actually get some good results. I MIGHT investigate reddit one day to build another source of traffic for our new site to launch soon. But honestly I've never been a fan of Reddit. The sites design has always looked sloppy and messy to me. Everything looks too close together and cramped. As my known sub reddit is called on here as a keyword or category. Every time I shall go to submit a link for I have been asked to choice a sub reddit and I have been tried to select the appropriate category or sub reddit for the website.
