How to choose a good dedicated server?

I am using some VPS plans from different hosting companies and planning to move to a new dedicated sever for my websites. but I don't have more experience on choosing a dedicated server.

If you knew this, then how to choose a good dedicated server? What specs should I care when choose a dedicated sever?

The market is very competitive right now for dedicated servers. You can get a really good deal if you check the price point and reviews of some of the known contenders like bluehost and iPage and perhaps HostGator. I'm not advertising for any company here but just stating that we had to shop around quite a bit when we were looking for dedicated servers. You can also consider Amazon's AWS as a contender due to it's flexible nature and instant expand ability options. This comes in pretty handy in cases where there's a sudden spike in server activity. We operate an online and offline media house and sometimes we get spikes whenever a story or an extended occasion like perhaps the elections or an annual event like a celebrated festival brings people to our sites by the thousands. Thanks for your suggestions!
But I have read on the forum and more people said that bluehost and iPage and perhaps HostGator are in eig hosting companies that we should avoid so I think it is hard for me to go with this option.
For Amazon's AWS, I visit their site and offers but some suggest me only go with them when I have a good budget because it will consume me more if I buy hosting services from this company.

Okay. Well iPage gave us the best deal and we didn't have much issues dealing with customer service. Even though we had a dedicated server, I was still able to liaise somewhat with tech support. We stayed with them for about two years before we went over to AWS. We're now using AWS because of the flexibility that is the ability to expand your servers on the fly, and some budgeting is involved. I'll keep looking around for more options as I do have some other projects in the making which may not be as funded as our main web pages. Let me know of the ones that you may have come across and we can assess these options and perhaps derive a solution. Thanks.

I'd not recommend bluehost, hostgator and any other EIG hosting brand. The reason being those hosting companies are extremely bad on technical support. And often you may experience uptime issues. You can go for linode, digital ocean, hawkhost, liquidweb, kinsta and wpengine. So some of these hosts are lot better in terms of technical support. Make sure that you avoid any brand that is part of EIG hosting group.

Choose a server that comes with an operating system that offer regular updates. Because you don't want your website to get hacked again and again. When it comes to choosing a dedicated server for your business, think about the issue of competitiveness.

Well, the trick is choosing an affordable dedicated server YET still high-quality one. Lucky for you there's plenty to choose from because there are many options to your disposal.

You really should be looking at specific things like: bandwidth, OS, management, performance, pricing, licensing fees, backup and more! All of these things should fit YOUR needs.

Some of the better-known ones are:

- GoDaddy,
- HostGator,
- 1&1,
- DreamHost.

I read on forums and more people said that - Bluehost, GoDaddy, HostGator are bad hosts because they are in eig company thus will have low quality services and support.
I am not sure about this, so someone else can confirm it is true?

To choose the dedicated server- you have to check the dedicated bandwidth and speed and amount of space- I mean storage. For using vps it will be better if you choice any famous cloud server.

Thanks for your reply! my website doesn't need more bandwidth but it needs more speed to help visitors browse web pages faster.

Also, its page size is very large and I don't know how to get a fast dedicated server. Can you shoot me a guide on choosing this?

To choose something that is good enough, but not too expensive you'll have to do some research. Check everything about it, read reviews and get recommendations so you could make a good decision. Look for one with regular updates and check the OS, performance, price, etc.

I afraid of reviews because I don't believe in reviews and I think marketing team used to create that to promote their hosting services better to viewers.

It is a good idea that you have posted it here for the perusal of the veterans and the techies in the hosting business. I have no suggestion about it but I am glad to read the comments above because this is another learning experience. When talks of server is mentioned I would always prefer a dedicated server because we had a bad experience with shared server that when the pool is loaded the site has the tendency to crawl.
