25+ Fun and Creative Ways to Fundraise Your Startup: Part 4
Hello all. For all of those out there that have a startup idea but can't get it started up because they can't find the funding for it. In part 4 of today's 25+ Fun and Creative Ways to Fundraise Your Startup, we'll be talking about some more fundraising methods you can do, to raise those funds and get your startup idea, started up!
Fun & Creative Fundraising Ideal 11: Film Viewings / Movie Nights
Everyone loves a good movie right? And for the summer months what could be better than getting together and sitting down to a movie with friends and family while helping a charity or some good cause at the same time? You would need a venue for this though and you would need an entertainment license as well if you're going to be doing it in a public place. However, if you host it in your own home (complete with comfortable chairs, food and refreshments (soda and popcorn etc) you wont need an entertainment licence. You could also turn it into a charitable event by hosting it in your local council or community hall. You'll just have to invite enough people to it and get them to donate to you. Just don't forget the popcorn!
What you'll need:
- A venue for people to come, sit around and watch whatever movie you're playing.
- An entertainment license (if you're not hosting it at your own home).
- To charge people entry for the night to watch the movie/movies.
- Free popcorn and soda refreshments (can be sourced cheaply).
Fun & Creative Fundraising Ideal 12: Arts & Crafts
Arts & crafts isn't for everyone! It's more for bored moms or kids to do. But it's all really how you spin it! You could host an arts & crafts fair for children and have them (or their parents anyway) pay you to enter it and you give away a prize to the best one to make something that is supposed to look like something. Of course, as well as charging, you could ask for people to donate to it too. You'd have to tell them what it's for such as for your awesome new startup idea of course!
What you'll need:
- Things people can make stuff from like old boxes, tape, gluesticks, sellotape etc.
- A place people can come to and sit down and make stuff from what you provide.
- To advertise the arts & crafts night and get people to pay an entry fee.
Fun & Creative Fundraising Ideal 13: Color Runs
Marathons are super great ways to not only raise some funding money for something, but also as a way to bring people together to get a little healthy workout! But color runs are a little different and a lot more colorful than just normal runs! The way they work are basically the same as marathons or other runs except, the runners get doused in different colors as they run along the course! That way, by the time they make it to the finish line, they will arrive covered in many different colors! That can make it a true spectacle to behold and will be sure to get people donating to it too. You would have to charge people to enter the run and collect donations too but with enough advertising of the event this could be quite a profitable and colorful fundraising ideal!
What you'll need:
- Enough advertising to get it known about and enough people to pay to enter.
- To set a course people can run along (you may need to put up direction markers).
- Some of that colored powder other people can throw at the runners!
Fun & Creative Fundraising Ideal 14: Auctions
Auctions are similar to garage sales or car boot sales where you are selling something. But instead of selling something for a set price, you allow people to bid on it. And whether you're auctioning off your memorabilia or jewellery, an auction can raeise a lot of funding money quickly, provided what you have to auction is worth something. Of course, you will have to auction of something that you find valuable to yourself but if you really want to raise some funds for your startup this is one way of going about it. Another thing you could also auction is your own time to do things for people like chores and things for friends and for family. Or just anyone that paid for it!
What you'll need:
- Something to auction off like your big screen TV or some memorabilia.
- To advertise the auction night and to get people to attend.
Fun & Creative Fundraising Ideal 15: Bungee Jumps
Okay jumping off a very high bridge strapped to an elasticated rope isn't everyone's cup a tea! Some people are far too afraid of heights as it is let alone jumping off a bridge tethered to a stretchy rope! But like some of the other fund raising methods I've mentioned to you here, (and although likely one of the most extreme) it's a very good way to raise some funds. Since it's such an extreme thing to do, you'll likely get some donations for it from people who would literally pay to see you throw yourself off a bridge or something. Some people wont expect you to do something like this and this is where you can prove them wrong! Again, like most things, you'll need to advertise it and collect sponsor payments from people before you do.
What you'll need:
- To hire an official bungee jumping school.
- To collect sponsors by people to do it.
- To actually jump off the bridge!
And that completes today's series of fun and creative fundraising ideas. I hope you like these and they give you some ideas for doing them or something similar to them. Like all that I've posted, these are guaranteed things you can do and things that people enjoy doing or would enjoy sponsoring you to do. Such as doing the bungee jump!
What about you? Have you ever done any of these things to raise funds for something?
If so, how did it go and how did you organise, arrange and advertise them?
