How to become a faster blogger in 7 steps.

When it comes to writing a lot of content each day, you will need to speed up your typing so that it doesn't seem to take as long.  If you can type 25 words a minute, that's fine, but you should be aiming for closer to 80 words per minute if you don't want blogging and content writing to take over your life lol.

Let's say you're writing up 10 articles for your blog each day and they are each 500 words long.  That's not a super long article, so you should be able to get it written up in a fairly quick amount of time, but doing 10 of those might be a burden if your words per minute aren't great.  If you're typing 50 words a minute, each article will take you 10 minutes to write and 10 will take you an hour and 40 minutes.  Now this is great if you have everything laid out, you don't have any distractions and you can keep your focus long enough while typing out all 10 of these articles for your blog.

I'm here to tell you that this is much more difficult than it sounds.  You will usually get distracted when you're writing because I know I do all the time.  It could be the littlest thing from me looking at my cat while she's playing with a sock or if I'm typing something and get a sweet business idea.

Below I've gone over 7 ways to help speed up your writing so that you don't waste a ton of time How to become a faster blogger in 7 steps.

  1. Make an outline of your post
When you make an outline, you're basically writing down steps of the article that you want to write up.  This can increase your writing speed immensely because you don't have to think what comes next.  Writing your outline for each post will take a few minutes, but if you just try to think of what you want to write on the spot, it will take you much longer.

Why I do Outlines For All Of My Posts:

    • Knowing what I'm going to write about prevents me from procrastinating.  When we look at an over all project it sometimes seems daunting.  If I write down a plan and an outline I'm showing myself a step by step process of how to attack it.  Each of these steps is small in comparison to the overall task and that makes it seem to go by much quicker.
    • Having an outline will prevent you from writing off topic.  Without a plan of attack you could see your writing begin to wander and in the end it won't be a great article.  Stick with your outline and it will just be like filling out sections on a job application lol How to become a faster blogger in 7 steps.  Short and sweet How to become a faster blogger in 7 steps.
    • If you have an outline and you're using it for research purposes, it will make everything go by much quicker.  You won't get distracted as much and you will never feel like you're running around in circles when trying to figure something out.

  2. Set your outline to the side and let it marinade for a few hours
By setting your outline on the sidelines and letting it marinade while you work on other things, you're not rushing your work which could be bad for business.  When you do this, you might realize you left something out that you wanted to cover and now you can go back to your outline and fill in the gaps.  Another good reason to do this is to make sure that your outline makes sense.  When you're in the moment it could make sense, but if you come back to it after an hour or two it could seem like each of your points are from different topics and needs to be fixed lol.

  3. Be Consistent
Writing every day will help you speed up your typing skills.  Do you think I got to almost 100 words per minute out of luck?  Nope!  I've been typing since 1997 when my family got our first computer.  I would be typing on there not realizing I was training a skill that I would be using almost every day in the future.  Even if you're sitting at home by yourself and you do not want to write, you should probably get online for 15 to 20 minutes and get something done.  It will only help you in the long run and you won't feel as lazy lol.

  4. Set deadlines
When you don't have a deadline for your work, you don't have an end point (Duh!).  This means that your brain will allow you to put off work until later tonight or even tomorrow.  Eventually this will snowball and you just won't want to do the work.  Setting deadlines for yourself is a great way to stay productive because you will have a set amount of work to finish in X amount of days.  You will only let yourself down if you do not finish the work, and that never feels good.

  5. Get ready for the feels
When I'm writing I know that I'm doing what I love and when I click "Publish" it's like a weight has been lifted off of my shoulders.  If I'm writing 10 articles for the day and I get to my very last one, that "Publish" button looks so much sweeter.  When I submit my work and let it go live, it feels like I won a gold medal lol.  Everything I've already said above this will help you get to this point quicker each day as long as you stick with it How to become a faster blogger in 7 steps.  If you don't see each "Publish" click as a win, then you need to rethink your approach.  You're finishing some work (a step in your outline) and you're getting closer to being finished.

  6. Stay off the internet
When it comes to writing, I try not to go online for very long because it can be distracting.  This is exceptionally difficult when I'm trying to do some research and I see ads all over the place if my ad blocker isn't running lol.  Stay off of Facebook, reddit, eBay, amazon, Instagram, etc.  You can even put your phone into airplane mode if you want just so you can have an added layer of cloaking to the internet so you can speed everything up How to become a faster blogger in 7 steps.  If you don't have to be online to do your work, try disconnecting your WiFi so that you're not able to even get online.

  7. Increase your speed
Like I talked about in the beginning, your typing speed will be the main thing that will speed everything up.  Right now I can type almost as fast as I can talk, which is pretty quick if you ask me.  Sometimes it feels like I can type faster than my mouth can push out words, which is kind of crazy if you ask me.

If this isn't something you can work on every day to speed up, there are other options.
    • You can use something in the form of a voice to text software.  I don't remember the name of the top one, it has "Dragon" in it I think.  These pieces of software allow you to just talk and you will see everything getting written down for you.  This type of software is great for people who can speak fast but type slow.
    • You can also record yourself in an audio or video format and have it transcribed by someone.  This usually costs around $1.00 per minute.  Sometimes you can find something that will allow 2 or 3 minutes per $1.00 but that's pretty rare.

In Conclusion:
Writing in general isn't that much of a difficult task, it just takes time.  If you have to get a certain amount of work out in a short amount of time then it pays to have a good word per minute number.  The above points will help you out when it comes to typing faster, and I'm sure you will notice that if you start using them How to become a faster blogger in 7 steps.

This is super useful to me, as I just started my new blog. I guess distraction is one of my biggest obstacles, turning off the Internet, or at least all other not relevant tabs is important. I like what you say about writing every day and setting the outline too. Thanks for sharing all the good tips!

Nice article! Prior to reading this, my typing speed was already pretty high. So that was the only tip I really didn't need, however, I will implement your other tips to make me a more well-rounded blogger. Especially with being consistent and making outlines of the posts I write.

Regards,
Jonathan.

Decent point Mike! I haven't by and by ever considered utilizing discourse acknowledgment and I presumably won't until it gets to an OK level. It can be truly insane now and again and thought of something that has nothing to do with your article. The most exceedingly awful thing there is that you could have had a smart thought, you talked it out, discourse acknowledgment didn't generally get it and you got something arbitrary and very confounding at last. Indeed, unquestionably there is a human element also, you ought to talk clear and moderate without surging, yet despite everything I want to sort stuff. Along these lines I gradually think ahead of time while I write a specific sentence. It may very well be me, yet I trust that recording stuff is superior to depending on discourse acknowledgment. A debt of gratitude is in order for sharing the tip however!

Very useful post.Honestly, I reread it twice and still feel, that I`ve missed something. I never thought too much about the importance of outlining the post. Now it is crucial for me, as very often I feel, that many of my posts go off topic((

Thanks so much for the post, i believe it will help me a long way to get faster because i know i am still slow at typing but that point which ask us to outline our points first will be really helpful for me also it will avoid mistakes more because deleting mistakes made also consumes time in typing.

Good job on this article. Very informative! I'm also just starting in blogging and I'm learning a lot of things from you guys who post these kinds of guides. Writing is such a good way to express yourself and if you put it in your blogs, you can interact with a lot of people. Cheers!

I consider myself a fast typist at 60 words power minute. The downside is that if you say you'll writing very fast, you may have to compromise quality because as a writer ideas come in drops to you. It is not as if you are pouring water out of a cup. I am beginning to improve and I write freely at first then edit later for consistency and sentence coherency.

This is a wise thread, I agree with you just like this saying " time is money", When you save your time you will be saving your money, so
investing some $4 or $5 for a five min video or audio to have your
recorded video transcribed is not a bad idea plus to speed up things is
very important because it will allow you to do lots of things in short
time, and the more you do the more money come in.

Point 6 is the big one for me. I find my attention span is very bad when I'm online. It's probably not the quickest or most efficient way but I often find it easiest to write my articles using a pen and paper. Then typing them is a form of moving from a first to second draft.

This is actually very helpful since writing an article orblog post would require some time since it would have to be long and descriptive. Being distracted in the middle of writing could get you off track and take you off the mindset of writing. It is very frustrating to be distracted when you know what you should have written but lost the momentum of writing.

Staying off the internet is also one of the main things to consider when you want to become a faster blogger. If you are not using internet for research or optimizing your blog or marketing your blog, it can become a big distraction. You can easily squander hours if you go to youtube or facebook.
In order to produce articles in volume you need to become a fast typer as well.

The outline is the backbone of the blog. Based on my experience, having a complete outline gives me the ease of writing a blog that I can finish it in an hour. Much more if the outline is sequenced in the desired flow of the article, writing the details will be a breeze. But I understand that reviewing what you had written is one important step because polishing the blog means you are going for the quality.
