Is Instagram cracking down on 3rd party apps?

Has anyone else noticed MassFollower is no longer available? The website says due to a request from instagram. Why is such a powerful tool now shut down and what other tools would be decent replacements?

Instagram hates automation. They want real people and users on their network. So their API often does not support such automation. They have banned a lot of users and their scripts over the years. But if you can get some to work with their permission it won't be much hard to make the most out of instagram. You can use it through Hootesuite if you want to automate.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Generally speaking, no website likes automation within their system. Because of this social networks like Twitter and Instagram have banned the use of automation on following people and liking photos.

In my opinion, certain 3rd party apps are useful in social media management. However, a lot of them just produce spam and fake accounts with fake followers. Which is why I'm glad Instagram is cracking down on them.

I think considering too much hardwork required on the instagram proves you that you need automation., Because it is bandwidth and time consuming to interact and entertaining people. And that's one more reason I think other platforms are also doing lot better. So that being said, I think soon people will move to other platforms where they can do automation better.

I agree that Instagram wants real people. That is actually the stand of most, if not all, social media platform. It will make you uneasy if you own a social media platform that another 3rd party is earning from it. Maybe it would be all right only if the 3rd party app has an explicit agreement with the social media network. I guess Facebook will also disapprove of being used by a 3rd party for it is a disadvantage to Facebook.

I personally think that the main reason they shut down third party apps is because they want real people instead of AI. And I think that they will keep enforcing this and end up making 3rd party apps extinct.

Personally, I think Twitter has suffered because of the restrictions that they have placed on automation. For several years, they have been struggling to grow their active users. Over that time, they have continued to limit automation and they have tried to operate more like Facebook. I'm sure they are basing these decisions on surveys, polling, and other market research. Yet, I can't help thinking that they changed are alienating their core users. Plus, people do;t need two Facebooks. That is one reason that G+ never really took hold.
