10 statements that drive SEO consultants crazy
When it comes to working online as an SEO consultant and service provider I get a lot of strange characters shooting me emails or talking to me on the phone. I've had all races and religions on the phone talking to me or emailing me and I have to say that as part of the human race... We're all a bit odd lol. I'm just going to get into this discussion right away without much of an intro because I'm itching to write about this lol. So here we go
10 statements that drive an SEO consultant crazy
1. You're too expensive, I'll just hire someone in India.
I love this one because I will be on the phone with a potential client and everything is going well, but when the conversation gets serious and we talk about money, the client tends to say they can get my services cheaper elsewhere lmao
I actually don't mind this because they usually come back screaming that their website has been penalized and I say "Well now it will be an extra fee each month because I have to remove this penalty" and the crazy thing is that they pay it
2. I'll pay you $XX per month instead of $XXX like you quoted.
As all business goes, there's usually a little wiggle room and most SEO's don't mind negotiating on a different price as long as you're not low balling with your final offer. I've literally had people ask for a quote and I'll say something like $550 a month and they will come back with "Well, how about $75 a month?". Sometimes I literally have to stop myself from laughing over the phone and compose myself. If you're trying to get an extensive SEO campaign for $75 then you're looking in the wrong place. You will most definitely have to outsource to overseas and risk getting a penalty from hiring a company that doesn't care about your website.
3. My competitors are doing something completely different.
My response to this is "So do you want to follow in your competitors footsteps? Do you want to be just like them? Or do you want to destroy them and take every sale from the search engines?" They will usually go for the third question and ignore the first two. After this I usually don't hear anything again about how their competitors are doing something lol.
4. I'll pay only when I see my traffic and sales increasing
Well this just doesn't happen, sorry. I don't do work for free in hopes of getting paid, and I'm almost certain no SEO will go for this lol. I've worked on commission based SEO campaigns but we have a contract in place with tracking so that I know what I'll be getting paid and if the company doesn't pay up they will have hell to pay lol.
5. Match the prices of (example company) and I'll work with you.
I've had plenty of potential clients want to play the coupon game where a retail company will take competitors coupons. Well I'm sorry to say this but I will never do it. Most SEO's offer a great service for what they priced it at and you should feel lucky to pay a lower than expected fee for outstanding work. Now if you're paying $10,000 a month for SEO and not getting results, then you might want to have a talk with your team lol. Oh, and if you want to pay me $10,000 a month, I'll give you a 10% discount
6. I'm on page 1 but not getting any traffic, I want a refund.
That's awesome! SEO companies that can get your website to the first page for YOUR keywords should be paid in gold. They did everything right and now you want a refund? Well I've gotten this response a lot and it's usually from those people who expect to get rich quick by having up one website lol.
7. I was told I'd get and extra 100 sales a day from SEO and I'm not. I'm filing a charge back!
This comes across my desk at least once a month, and it's pretty funny when it does. Normally when we go into an SEO campaign there was a contract signed saying we will do this amount of work over this amount of time and help you increase your rankings. After the first month or two the client will get enraged because their friend (who doesn't know how it all works) told them they will get an extra 100 sales a day if they just did some SEO to their website. I usually laugh at this because we did everything right, they're getting some traffic and sales but they're not happy because they have dreams of retiring. Sure, file a charge back but remember that if you do I will send you to collections and your credit is now garbage... oh, and you'll be paying me back lol
8. Why do you charge so much when I can just do this myself?
I'm going to leave this one short and sweet. My response is always "If you can do it yourself, why are you contacting us in the first place?" I'll usually lose a potential client, but I don't like arrogant people and this deal would have gone south regardless of the work we did lol.
9. It's been 1 week, why am I not getting a lot of traffic yet?
I'll get this statement from people that honestly don't know why they're paying for SEO. It's a good thing that in my contracts I note that the person signing it understands what they're getting into and purchasing just so that I don't have someone playing dumb. I'll always tell people that SEO takes time and usually they understand after that or they want their money back lol.
10. You're a scammer! You guaranteed I would profit!
This gets me a bit angry and makes me laugh at the same time. No good SEO service, like my own, will give guarantees. So when I have someone signed up under a contract saying that we are scamming them and they want a refund, I will just email them all the reports again and show them the work. I will also show them that in the contract it clearly says that we don not guarantee a rankings increase or and increase in profits because we do not own the search engines who deem your website authority and higher rankings and we also do not own your website or business which helps close sales. They get really pissed off when they know they messed up and called me a scammer for no reason lmao
In Conclusion:
These are just 10 of the statements I get on a monthly basis which irritate the hell out of me. What kinds of conversations are you having with clients that don't know what they're buying?

Have a wonderful day.
The statements I am getting is also same. This types of statements are coming also to me. For avoiding these types of client at first you have to check the client recommendation or client history. If completely new client than before starting the work you need to clear the conversation before starting the work. I do work only with gentle client. When I see any clien is doing any type of criticism than I avoid the client for staying safe. Some days ago I got a client with 600$ confirmation and after doing 300$ works we face a problem in the work and client said to cancel the 400$ times work and he said he would take the risk. Because he had been seen that I have tried my best and I did my side work. This type of client called gentle client. Work only with gentle client.
Thanks
