Does anyone use Upwork?

I had a hard time landing a job during the first few months, but as time went on, I got accepted for various projects depending on the skill required. The hardest part would have to find a buyer to choose you even if you have no experience. But that is totally nothing once you start getting offers because it is the same on most of the freelance site.

Which sounds promising, until you have a steady buyer that do not leave you a feedback because the work is ongoing. Without constantly getting new feedback, the Job Score will decline. As of right now, the majority of my jobs received a 5-star feedback. However, few of them did not give me any feedback. So that's a major drawback with the Job Score formula, buyers do not have to leave feedback, and without it, seller's Job Score decreases.

A friend of mine joined up work as a freelancer and received 5-star job score for almost every job he did. He is a graphic design student and one time he applied for multiple jobs and wasn't contracted to all of them so Upwork indefinitely suspended his account saying that his skills weren't good enough! if he knew up work would do this he never would have applied for high skill jobs, even though he is highly skilled just didn't have enough proof.

I highly recommend it for recent graduates or someone who wishes to challenge their current skills. Additionally, if you want to pick up something on the side, it is a great opportunity. Just make sure you are equipped with technology and know how to manage your time well.

I have tried UpWork and actually got a few clients. As you said, the hardest part was to get my first client as well as my first 5 rating. I had to write up job interviews for about 3 months before I finally landed a client. It may been a lot easier if I was to lower my price per hour but I already was making good money with SEOclerks, I didn't want to lower my fee for anyone, so this is why it took so long until I landed my first clients, but I'm sure that if you have a good price for your services you can land a client there in a week without much trouble.

I suffer from same issue. I don't have regular work. And for this reason I have to search for other options. I think upwork is one option for me but it can't be that regular. So people don't look at my bids. So that is kind of ignoring my profile. I guess I have to work harder on profile and establish myself.

Yes I have a profile on Up work. My tips is start with a lower rate as you build up a regular client base. You can increase your rate to match your skills once you a steady client base. Another thing to try is offer a discount to your previous buyers. Send them a message and inform them you are offering a service on "sale period". This way you get repeat business and possibly retain a client longterm.

Yea,Up work is a great site to work with.I have an account there but hardly have time to really work there because of my tight schedule for other things though I did some jobs from there a while back.Yes graduates that are a bit jobless can try to pick up jobs from there.

I am using Upwork and currently working with them. I can say that it's a genuine way of earning money because most clients are trusting that site. When I am a newbie there I can't deny that I find it hard to find potential client because most them were looking for high ratings or expeince. Despite being a beginner I keep sending proposals and after a month gladly someone accepted me and until now I'm still working with them. It's just a matter of patient and determination and I can say that Upwork is worth it to try.

I have met most of the good buyers there. But lately I have noticed that even the upwork has the issue with the low paying buyers. And they seem to be running off the projects too. So it can be tiresome in this case to fix those problems. I think landing regular work may not be an easy way to fix that. But based on what I have seen it is possible. And it can be doable for many of us. I guess it just needs few good buyers. And once that portfolio is improved you can make some decent money. That is the part we all have to take control of and build on as well.

The problem with Upwork is that I get jobs only very rarely. This is very discouraging. However I am quite contended on the amount that I get from completing a job. I don't work for this site anymore as I am now working for other sites and I don't have much time to concentrate on this one.

I haven’t been to Upwork but it looks like a good one for a freelancer. However, I am greatly discouraged to read some comments in this discussion particularly the difficulty of finding a client. I understand that getting a client is very difficult at first since you have no reputation to speak of yet. But a month of finding clients is a long time to spend on something that you are not sure to earn from. It’s like fishing on a lake that you don’t know if there are fishes there or not.

I've been using upwork for a year then I day after I have just finished a job, they just blocked my account. I guess some of its staffs and mods are playing around. Eversince that time, I switched to another reliable job site called FreeeUp.
