A lot of companies are now pushing the amazing SEO hosting for your websites. You're suppose to get an SEO benefit from these types of hosting because of all the bells and whistles they let you have. The only downside of signing up for these types of hosting accounts or plans is that they cost a bit more than a normal hosting account or shared account.
I'm not a huge fan of shared accounts because I don't know what other people are doing on them and I don't want to get lumped into anything with them if they're screwing something up in the SEO world. I don't want Google to change their search algorithm so that shared hosting accounts with multiple websites on one server can share a penalty due to one person screwing up But doing that would hurt their own search rankings because the majority of people are on cheap hosting accounts that lump them in with 10 to 100 other websites on the same server (depends on the server size).
I pay a little more per hosting plan for my websites, around $25 a month, because I like to get a dedicated IP along with a bigger plan that can handle more traffic. Now the bigger plan won't do much except help me from going over on my bandwidth just in case something I post goes viral. I'm protected from crashing, and I like that a lot The SEO benefit I get is the dedicated IP address. My website is seen as the only one on the IP address and that's what I want. I don't want to get on the same IP as 10 other people, so the extra money is justifiable in my mind because I'm playing it safe for the future just in case Google, Bing and Yahoo! get angry and want to burn all the shared hosting accounts lol.
Some SEO type hosting accounts are $100+ for what I pay $25 for. I pay much less because the company I go through isn't very greedy. They have competitive plans and give you the option of adding a dedicated IP, which is what I always opt for
Play it safe and get a dedicated IP for your hosting accounts. You never know who you'll get lumped together with if you're all on the same one

I had no idea about this at all. I don't even know if I am on a shared hosting account or not. I guess not since I am paying $8.95 per month with Stable Host. How do I check this Razzy?
I am not big enough to host all of my websites on their own IP address at $25 a month each. I am just wondering now, if I have 4 or 5 website and I get a shared hosting but only all of my own websites are on the one IP address would that be all right? And does anyone even offer this? So it is shared hosting, but only shared with my websites. Seriously Razzy, you can get penalized by Google just because you share an IP with websites that are doing something dodgy?
