I have decided to work on my link building and now I have some questions.
I purchased an awesome list of 3000+ best free SEO backlinks sites a while back and I have decided to now start working through this list.
The problem I have encountered now is that a lot of these sites ask for reciprocal links and this makes me a little edgy and I wonder how do I go about this? Can anyone please explain to me the best way to do this?
I am not 100% comfortable adding links all over my websites. I don't know where to put them. Yes probably a stupid question, I know, but I am new to link building and in the past when I have hit this problem I have just left that website.

Instead of directory link submission you might want to find 50 powerfull blogs in your niche and start developing your authority through them. Start commenting daily to their articles, be on topic, develop a friendship with the blog owner and you will benefit much more than from the directories.
Links from directories are static, don't bring any value to you and if the directory is listed as spammy it might hurt your rankings. From blog commenting, you can get authority on some keywords(if the owner allows you to post links with anchors) and traffic.
As long as you keep it professional and on topic your links are, usually approved and visible within the comment. You have to be very carefully with this directories. To my knowledge, Google doesn't like them very much because they usually, attract shady links. If I remember well they were considered farm links and their input in ranking and creating authority is minimum.
