Hey everyone! I need some advice, here. I'm looking for a good free chat room, where I can invite some folks to get together for an hour for a topic-focused chat. Third-party is fine. I'm not trying to develop my own system, just need a simple, free, no-hassle meet-up spot.
Here's what I need:
1. Free would be preferred, but very very cheap would be considered.
2. Can hold up to 100 people
3. Ad-free would be nice, but it's not necessary. If there are ads, no porn.
4. Embeddable on my site would be great.
5. I need text-only for this one, but I'd love some input on video chat, as well.
6. Mobile-friendly.
7. No registration required. Meaning that my users chat as guests without having to create an account.
I've got a temporary test room set up on e-chat.co right now. I've got it embedded on my own website, so there aren't any of their site's ads showing. That's nice. I think I'll be able to hold up to 100 people in there. It doesn't specify anywhere at e-chat.co how many users I can have in one room, but there do seem to be a LOT of guests chatting at once in some of their rooms that I spied on.
The only problem that I've found so far is that my little test room is not so great on mobile. I think it'll work pretty well on desktop.
Any suggestions would be awesome. Thanks so much!

Their chat system is super customizable and easy to use. You can set it up to host as many people as you want, but I'm sure having an insane amount of people, in the thousands, would cost a decent amount.
I'm not 100% sure of the cost of rocket.chat because there is just a "request a quote" box and I'm waiting on a response from them. You can fill it out too if you want, it's here: https://rocket.chat/services
You can white label the chat room and that's pretty amazing because it helps you look even more professional and ahead of the curve
It can be integrated into your own systems and I assume there's an option to embed it like what you need it for.
You can import data if you've already got a list of users that you want to add to the new system. This helps a lot because originally when you switch service providers like this you lose all the login info and previous chats.
You can code new features yourself or have someone do it for you if you'd like. The code is open source which makes it very versatile
You can even keep it on their servers so you can save a few bucks. No need to put it on your own server if you don't want to.
Rocket.chat is fairly new but seems to be coding their way to the top. They're extremely active and I'm surprised it's been more than 5 minutes and I haven't gotten a response to my "Request a Quote" submission
If you get a response before me on how much it would cost, please let me know I've recently been using https://rocket.chat/ and I like the layout and how it functions. It's probably one of my favorite chat systems right now, besides skype of course. Their chat system is super customizable and easy to use.
