I have always thought that website speed was one of the most important things out there as far as SEO and user retention goes, what do you guys think? Would you stay on a website and wait for it to load if it did not load almost instantly?

So if your webpage loads in 3 seconds but all of you competition loads under 1 second for example, you are pretty much out of the picture and you won't rank for those relevant keywords you want to get traffic from.
So yeah. Keep your code clean, have a good hosting and optimize everything you can because speed is the name of the game in modern SEO. Website speed has become hugely relevant in today's SEO. Google admitted website loading speed is an important ranking factor.
