I think it does and it will be even more important in the future, since more and more LCD TV have the option to connect to the internet. So when you see a commercial for a certain website, you simply visit it the very moment on your TV

From what I remember, I have seen only 2 websites that have tv advertisements here. One is Trivago, a big travel agency where you can make hotel reservations and tickets for theme parks and resorts. Another is Lazada, the largest online store that is similar to Amazon. But their tv advertisement was rare maybe because they are just testing the waters. TV advertisement here costs much at more than $1,000 for a 30-second spot. Isn’t that a lot of money?

TV ads of course helps. However, it cost lot of money and only big companies can afford to have their ads displayed on TV. Go daddy does excessive marketing on TV. Probably it spends hundred of thousand dollars on TV ads. because Go daddy is promoting its business constantly, it has the largest business share on domain registration and web hosting business.

Surely,it helps one's website to be popular and drive organic traffic automatically.When once a site commercial is displayed all the time, as per humans we will want to find out what the website is all about of course by doing so the website is gaining more popularity and making money from views will be easier.

There are websites such as Amazon and ebay, to name a few, are spending a huge amount in TV ads. Every year they are increasing their advertising budget. Five years ago, I don't remember seeing amazon ads on my TV, however, these days Amazon ads are so common on TV that I think they are appearing 100 times in 24 hours.
However, not everyone can afford to advertise on TV. You need a big budget.

Certainly, any advertisement will help in promoting the business. However, the effectiveness depends on the kind of advertising. With tv, take note that it is very costly so it is only applicable to big businesses. I have been seeing the tv ad of Traveloka, a travel website similar to Booking.com and Tripadvisor that caters to your accommodation needs. Over here, a 30-second tv commercial costs around $1,000. Yeah, that much.
