Do you rely on Facebook traffic?

Facebook might be good for socializing, but is it really good for traffic? So many people have Facebook pages, but are these pages really resulting in any kind of traffic to a third party site or do they just build the brand on Facebook?

So many big companies rely on Facebook for traffic now. And, Facebook is very good, especially if you take time to talk with and engage your Facebook fans and customers in conversation. Don't just spam Facebook fans with advertising messages as you would on a non social site and expect any kind of results. With Facebook as any other social networking site, to get traffic, you have to engage, talk with and give information (such as solutions to problems your customers are facing), before your customers will click through to see what else you have to offer.

I don't rely on Facebook for traffic but I would not say no to it either. I value every visitor to my blog and site and want them no matter where they come from.

You should find a group that is similar to what your blog is about and get active there and make a name for yourself and over time that will result in more traffic to your site. There are numerous niche groups on Facebook, many of which allow you to include a link to your site or newest blog post when posting to the group.

Facebook traffic still converts in as much you don't spam. Also, its just quite unfortunate that you can't promote seoclerks directly on facebook. You still have to bring them to your website or blog first.

Although I do share my URL post links at Facebook, I do not see any traffic coming from there. Look at your Google Analytic chart. You will know where your traffic comes from. Mine, those traffic comes from Stumbleupon and Linkedin instead. Not Facebook.

In order to generate traffic from facebook, you will have to promote on facebook daily. promotion is not enough, you will also have to engage with the audience. If someone comments on your facebook content, you will have to reply. Facebook promotion demands active participation. If you are not active, there will no traffic. Facebook traffic also depends on the number of followers you have. You will get more traffic when you have 10 K followers compared to 1K followers. You can also generate traffic from facebook by using boost feature. However, you have to spend money to use boost feature.

I don't rely on Facebook alone to get traffic for my site for I launch ads on other social media sites as well as running some ads on popular blogs all in a bid to increase traffic to my site.

The drawback of facebook traffic or any traffic from any other social media site it, it is temporary in nature. You will gain traffic only when you share your post, and after sometimes there will be no incoming traffic. In order to gain constant traffic from twitter, you should be promoting your contents regularly.

From what I see, Facebook is now being used as a venue for promotion by companies that usually have their advertisements on TV. I have been seeing Facebook ads of KFC. That may be an indication of positioning in social media because people in the advertising industry are saying that in the near future, social media will dominate the traditional media in terms of advertisements. Right now, a website or blog can get traffic from Facebook freely as long as you know how to do the proper promotion.
