There are many reasons for bounce rate, including lack of good content, slow page loading time or targeting the wrong keywords on your page. Any of these can cause site visitor dissatisfaction which can cause a site visitor to click back to the search results where they found your site.

High bounce rate in itself doesn't mean it is a bad site. I would think google looks to see if you continue your search, going back to the google search results and looking at more sites.I really doubt that bounce rate make a different on SERP.

If your pages are not loading fast, then your site visitors will get angry or annoyed and go back to the Google search page. This will not be good for your site as you will not only lose visitors but also credibility. Google does not like a high bounce rate and they measure that and factor it into the search engine ranking position.

Yes low bounce rate is good for your website. Ideal would be to have 0 score. However that is not possible. So try to keep it under <20. Two great tips to reduce bounce rate are -
1. Reduce page loading time.
2. Create engaging content.

When you’re working hard to increase your site’s search performance, one of the things you should do is to reduce a high bounce rate. In other words, a high bounce rate is a symptom that something is wrong in your strategy – you’re not attracting the right people to your pages.
When a user (e.g., customer, prospect, or reader) visits your site on any page (known as an entrance page), and leaves without visiting other pages on the same domain, that’s a bounce. Your bounce rate is the percentage of all users who enter and exit on the same page, without any clicks to other pages on your site.
One reason your target customers leave your site is a lack of readability. User experience begins when your content is readable and legible. Specifically, large chunks of text scare readers away, so avoid it.

Of-course it is beneficial for website. Usually the traffic, which is coming from social media give high bounce rate. You can decrease this bounce rate. For that you need to set up a blog where you have to write unique and engaging content. And share this content over social media with appropriate graphics. People will click on your post and come down to your blog. Once they reach to your blog, you can land those visitors to your blog by using specific anchor text.

I am not an authority on the subject matter but I am just commenting based on what I had learned in some discussions about bounce rate. When the bounce rate of the web page is high, that means the visitor did not stay long on that particular web page. The most common reason for the quick exit is the lack of interest on the contents and perhaps the bad design of the web page. Check on it and try to improve so that your web pages will get a lower bounce rate.
