Google: Innovator or Tyrant?

Do you see Google as an innovator of new things, helping us live an easier life with such conveniences as Youtube and Gmail? Or, do you see Google as a tyrant exerting control over our private lives and intruding into privacy?

Google enriches our lives with so many free services and products. And when you look at the total picture, you will see that you benefit far more than you are inconvenienced. Any little intrusion you might think is going on is just so they can serve ads.

It's not just Google who is tracking you online or invading your privacy. Facebook will know what pages you click away on and can track you even once you leave the site. And, when you return, they will show you ads for related products on their site. If Google is the mother of all evil then Facebook is her daughter. The two run hand in hand with privacy violations.

Before you critisize Google too much, take a look at all that Google has to offer. Not just search but also really good free educational tools such as Google books.

Google is more than just Search. They also offer Youtube. And, can you really imagine a day without Youtube? All the best stuff is on Youtube. Lots of things to be entertained by.

Tyrant is a very strong word. We all love the things that Google gives us. I don't hear anyone complaining about Youtube or Gmail. Just sit back and enjoy what they give us, after all it's free.

I try not to think about Google spying on me. Though I'm always reading how they are doing just that, prying into my life. I just use my Gmail and close my eyes and hope they are not seeing something too private. Google: Innovator or Tyrant?

I wonder why the word tyrant is part of the choices. Anyway, isn’t it obvious that Google is an innovator? From a mere search engine, it has now an array of services that is free to the public. It even has a social media in Google+ although they don’t bandy it as a social media. But one of their products that I love is Google Drive which is similar to the olden attache case that you can access your folders in any computer as long as there is internet connection. And if that is not enough innovation, there’s also the Google car.
