I'm wondering why Gmail or Yahoo mail doesn't automatically lock if someone tries to access your account illegally and enters the wrong password more than a few times or accesses the email from an untrusted/unfamiliar computer. Most accounts (such as Paypal, banks, etc) will lock at least temporarily if you enter the password wrong as they assume you are being hacked. It might be an inconvenience to try to recover an email account but at least that would be better than having it hacked.

You can use 2 level password for google. I don't know about yahoo.
BTW, how do you think google or yahoo will know if it is accessed by hacker or genuine user ?

They will know because the IP address of the computer will not be the same. On some websites such as Runescape you can specify a trusted user computer and only that computer can login to game and all other computers are blocked. And, this prevents hacking. To add a trusted computer, you have to login to the main website (versus the game) from the computer you want to add. I'm wondering why Yahoo and Gmail can't have this same feature.
