Difference Between FB Page And FB Group

Hi Guys!
I like to know which option is better for gain targeted traffic to my service or to a website.
Once I asked this question in a forum. That forum community replied to me that FB page is better than Group. Please suggest me.

Fb fan page and groups are equally effective for website visitors.

It is much easier to get followers on your Facebook page than Facebook group. The different is that Facebook group do accept admins (appointed by the chief admin) to run the group and anyone who wants to be a member must seek approval from the admin before he can be a member. unlike Facebook page where you can become a member instantly by simply liking the page.

what Is Facebook Page :

What is Facebook Group :
Groups are a bit different than Pages. I administer an alumni group on Facebook. To create a group you go to facebook.com/groups/create.php and then fill in information about the type of group, and decide if it is open to a particular network (such as a University network) or all of Facebook. You can set join permissions on groups so that they are either open to anyone, closed (where users must get administrator approval to join) or secret (invite only).

I'm part of several really big Facebook groups, mostly for bloggers and women and it's always a lot of fun. Way more fun than a page could ever be. Mostly, a Facebook group is like a forum, which is about everyone talking in the group, versus the page where it's one person/company talking at the fans. And, while fans can leave comments on the Facebook page, it's never as interactive as the conversations you have in a group.

Facebook group is more effective for me when it comes to online marketing on Facebook. I mean with Facebook group, you can get to link up with friends and educate them on the need to do business with you. All you need to do is to open a facebook group and start adding your friends to it. Ensure you reach to out to them to keep them aware of your move.

From what I understand, an FB page is for your exclusive use that can be likened to a blog. However, people can like or follow your page and depending on the setting, they can also post comments. With the FB group, it is not exclusive to you and although it has a theme, anyone can post on it depending on your setting. But as the creator, you can be the admin and moderator of your FB group.
