Disorganization is my biggest foe in the work day, losing files on my computer or not being able to find the right email from a client. These things slow me down and cause me to lose time which costs money.

Getting distracted with a TV show or online Youtube video is my biggest distraction online. However, I have very few distractions offline as I live alone and work in silence.

Going out of the house to the post office or other local shopping trips for necessities is a distraction. Since I only work a few days from home freelancing now, I want to be able to put all my time into actual work and not daily chores/tasks that could be done other times.

If I see a TV show on that I want to watch, that is a major distraction. I usually have to leave the TV off.

I don't have a TV in my room for this reason as it's a distraction and would keep me from working. If I want to watch TV, then I have to go to the other end of the house and then only when I'm taking a break from work. Though watching TV is a relaxing activity to do with family, so it's something we all enjoy.

Someone knocking on my door or calling me to talk would be a distraction. That's easily handled as my friends know not to come over when I'm working and usually my schedule is very flexible that I work when I want anyway.

Checking Facebook messages slows me down. Sometimes, I lose myself in that site, talking to friends or playing games. It can be a dangerous distraction to anyone who needs to get work done.

You should not visit any sites not related to your work until you are done. Don't check emails unless it's related to business related purposes and same thing for Facebook.

Sometimes, just the little things in life can be more of a distractions than big things. These little things such as preparing lunch and taking care of household chores that are needed for everyday living are just as important as any work you might need to do. But, they also take away from time you have to work. And, that can take away your income.

In the office, the most common distractions to me are colleagues who would approach me for a chat especially if the topic is their personal problem. I hate that but I just can't tell them not to disturb me. Sometimes it takes more than 30 minutes so you can imagine the time I have lost in chatting with them. Another interruption is the unnecessary phone call from employees of other departments. With my freelancing, I don't have much interruption though because people at home know of my work.
