Do you rely on repeat business?

I get most of my work locally from friends and people that I knew from college so it's mostly repeat/referral business. I don't rely on one off business very much. It's rare that I get a new client unless they were referred by someone that I know. And, I would prefer it this way.

Much of my gigs are from repeat customers. It's easier to work with repeat customers as you are already familiar with their site. However, recently I have many new customers and very happy about that.

Getting a new customer is a good thing as it infuses your freelance business with new blood. And, for me, there's always a sense of excitement about a new project that I don't get with one I've worked on before.

I don't rely on repeat business, but it always good to have a solid customer base. As well, it's always good to keep adding new customers to build that customer base even larger - unless for some reason you're not interested in that.

Just recently, i got a sale for blog commenting service, something which I did a lot of in the past. And, it went so well that the customer reordered the very day that I delivered. I am so happy that he was pleased with the results enough to reorder. He was a first time customer and now repeat customer and I'm working on another one of his blogs. I hope he will reorder again regularly.

Repeat business is something that I strive with no matter who I work with. I think that it is a huge compliment when I get repeat orders!

My past few orders have been from repeat buyers. If it wasn't for them I would have any business at all, because of the bumping system change over.

I have never relied on the bumping system for work as there's always someone who will try to under cut me on price. I would rather work with someone I worked with before as they already know the quality of my service and understand that even when I charge more, they are getting ten times the value of someone who charges less. I know what the person wants, how to give it to them and what not to do. And, while I value new customers and strive to turn them into repeat customers, I don't depend on that for the bulk of my SEOClerks work. Using this strategy allows me to focus more of my creative energy on producing results rather than worrying.

Even forums rely on repeat business as most of the people that come to your site will be members who have already registered rather than just random visitors who come from Google. These members are the ones who will answer questions and keep your community alive. Though I know you are referring to freelance work, I think this concept of repeat business applies to any site ownership, also online and offline businesses.

These members are the ones who will answer questions and keep your community alive. Though I know you are referring to freelance work, I think this concept of repeat business applies to any site ownership, also online and offline businesses.


Many offline businesses including restaurants and service related businesses have a thriving repeat business clientale that depends on the generosity of customers who have purchased before. Just think of all the loyal McDonalds or Coca-Cola fans who return time and again to the same brand. Though new customers buy the products daily, it's the repeat customers that make the business owner wealthy.

Too much reliance on old business contacts can devastate your business if you don't bother to market and promote to get new business. What happens when the customers you had find someone new? They will leave and you won't have money.

That's why you should always stay alert for new opportunities, but it's also a hard thing, because most of the people will try to begin a price war.

Repeat business is something that I strive with no matter who I work with. I think that it is a huge compliment when I get repeat orders!


It's very flattering when a customer likes your work so much they will come back to pay again. This must be the biggest compliment as it says you did a very good job the first time and they don't mind paying for more.

The regular income produced from a repeat buyer is always nice to look forward to. You can depend on some buyers to continually buy your work month after month. This income makes life easier.
