Service moderation: Tips to help you get your service approved.

Please be advised that we are now moderating many new services after a recent outbreak of spam. We are doing this to ensure only the most high quality services reach the site.

We are looking for service descriptions that are original and not copied from other sites.

When submitting your service description, you can improve the chance of acceptance by following these simple guidelines.

  • Write your own original service description. Never use a copy/paste from another service or site.
  • Use an original photo, not trademark or copyright
  • Be creative and detailed with your service description
  • Ensure your description is lengthy, more than a paragraph.
  • Use proper spelling, punctuation and grammar and always spell check before submission
  • Don't submit a similar service as one you already have published

We are looking for truly unique services that add value to our Marketplace, not just similar to what others are offering.
Recently, we some of our members are creating multiple accounts to spam copy/paste services at staff. All these services are being deleted and the associated accounts are banned. We have zero tolerance for this type of behavior.

Please only submit services for review on your main account(s) where you are actively selling and do not create new accounts to try to subvert our moderation system.

Generally speaking, it's a rare occasion when a new service will be approved on a brand new account.

We can't approve services for very high fraud risk accounts, such as for members who were previously banned for fraud or scamming on another account. If you have an active infraction on your account, your service may be rejected based on this.

If you submit a service and it does not get approved, you may appeal to help desk. However, staff decision is final.

While we are doing our best to approve only top quality services, some older services (predating moderation) exist. If you see a service that could be on our ban list, such as for Facebook likes, Netflix accounts, buying/selling Twitter or Facebook accounts, please feel free to report it by clicking the Report button on the service page.

Staff will receive a moderation ticket regarding that specific service and it will be reviewed.

Great news @Beverly Really love staff's efforts to make this marketplace unique and professional. There was too many inappropriate services and sellers before and Seoclerks at some point was looking like blackhat market, but we all know how many professionals working here and selling really good services, so they should not drawn or be let down.

Thanks to all staff! Service moderation: Tips to help you get your service approved.

Only one more suggestion. It would be really good that official staff officially announce in forum or in TOS which kind of services are banned. A lot of us older members here know about it, but we know only trough some forum rumors while new members mostly start selling banned services and overload your moderation work as well as complaining in the forum about deleted services... So we need official list of banned services in public.

Regards to all team

I recently informed that there is waiting time and thier services are not approved by some newbie.

However i surprised at that time coz I have not gone through such.

It is good step to prevent spammy accounts and spammy services which reduce sites dignity.

However i would like to suggest , we should give some chance to new sellers too

@Asmodeus has preached this to no end that this should be done. We had spent (more on his end) hours for several days reporting services that was not just duplicate within SEOClerks, but duplicate with Fiverr gigs as well... It took an override of spam for this to occur?

Hi NaturalWriter

I can understand your frustration with this spam situation. We all agree it's a bad thing. We are actively trying to clean up the site and really do appreciate everything our members have done to help us in that process, especially reporting duplicate services (yes, especially the ones that are duplicated from competitor websites). We do not want to be associated with those other marketplaces in anyway.

However, before now, we only had manual spam prevention methods and sometimes they were a hit and miss, especially with thousands of services being created. And yes that includes reporting of services.

That's because fraudsters will typically create multiple (as in dozens) of spam accounts and just keep spamming services at our site night and day, much like you see with spammers on a forum. And, just as quickly as staff removes one duplicate/copy-paste spam service, they create another ten. And, before now, those services were automatically published and as you might imagine those spam services build up, just like spam would on a forum.

This situation required more than manual spam prevention. For years, we were fighting a losing battle against spam, until the implementation of SiftScience that will automatically block high risk fraud accounts from creating services, place orders, sending private messages, etc. Most of the spam comes from high fraud risk accounts, so keeping these people off site or making sure they can't do anything while here is key to effective, long term spam prevention. Very soon, it will be almost impossible for these fraudsters and spammers to create accounts here or do anything destructive.

I can assure you that staff is working very diligently to make the SEOClerks marketplace the safest it can be.

If you ever have a suggestion on how to make the site better, please feel free to tell us, either here on the forum or via Support Desk.

I don't see the point in penalizing new sellers who have NO idea what is allowed and what is not here. The Seoclerks TOS hasn't been updated since 2013 and the FAQ is a complete mess that still has spam on the first page for leather jackets.

Until there is a complete list of banned services posted in an obvious spot where everyone can reference it BEFORE posting anything, then you're just wasting your time, as plenty of innocent, non spam, newbies will be trying to post services in good faith thinking they are allowed here.

Heck, I've even seen seasoned members who have been here for YEARS trying to post banned services and spam links all over the site. Is it that they don't know any better? If a senior member doesn't know that Facebook likes (for example) are banned, then how would a new member know? Yes, it's mentioned in some random forum posts, but most new sellers never even visit the forum, so how are they supposed to know?

Yes, there are spammers, and fraudulent accounts for sure, but there are also lots of sincere new members trying to make a few dollars here who have no idea what they can sell, and having their first service denied will just discourage them and make them want to leave to go elsewhere.

The better solution would be to post a comprehensive list of banned services AND have a link to it that a member must read (ie, in a pop up) when they go to create a service. THEN, if they still post a banned service you will know they are trying to break the rules and can deal with it accordingly. Plus you can automate much of the moderation by having it so that words like "Facebook likes" posted in a new service will automatically deny that service.

I feel for your situation, but you'll just be creating extra work for yourself until the final rules are in place for ALL to see when posting a service anywhere. Good luck!

@Asmodeus We aren't penalizing new members. The new implementation of SiftScience scores every user with a risk score (my account is rated at 24%, yours is rated at 12.4% at this moment). The system works by labelling users as good or bad and attributing scores to users based on actions. So, if a user spams the site they are banned and labeled as bad. The user then goes and creates a new account, their actions are the same as the previous account and a calculated high risk score is assigned to their account. The score changes based on actions and data collected. It really is an amazing system, however, it takes time to train it and we are working with our rep. at SiftScience to get the most accurate score possible.

Based on the above score, users that create a new service above the score threshold are sent into service review. Users above another threshold cannot PM, access the create service page and other restrictions. As we identify more and more users, the precision of the score improves. We can then begin to lower the thresholds until we have very few spam/fake services/fraudulent orders/money funneling/etc.

I agree, we do need to make a public list of services that we do not allow and link to it. However, we do have some controls in place. If a user attempts to create certain banned services, their service is rejected automatically with an error message. Give it a go, try to create a service with "Facebook Likes" in the title. This is a clear indicator for new and old members who create these services.

Ahhhh, that explains why I've seen some new services with titles like "F@cebook Likes", with the @ symbol, as they figured out how to get around the filter, so hopefully it will improve over time, as you say.

I'm not sure I understand the Sift score though. So the HIGHER your score percentage, the closer you are to a "bad" threshold and maybe declared a spammer, etc?

This is true, Many user copied description even word by word, Not only from Bangladesh also from other countries as well,
I am happy to see the steps has been taken to prevent this, and this is really boring when i see somebody copied my gig description or picture even sometimes he is from Bangladesh, As it is a market place where people coming from all over the world, we are representing our country and nation, so before doing something we should think about our image, I am from Bangladesh and not telling all of us doing this, but this is true many of us doing this, even in Featured category, What i say, try to be honest, if you be honest before doing something you must know its wrong and you might change your mind to copying somebody,
Thanks

Dear bakerken28 ,
I not only respect but also respect all of the seoclerks sellers & buyers. You are right. But you are thinking bangladeshi people are not using or can't use english properly. It is not right. I am sure you are a best person. I want to point you about our country where most of the people know english properly. It is sure bro. Yes, it is most important for seoclerks to respect all sellers & thinking about all sellers because we are the main source of seoclerks income. Pls don't mind if any wrong.

I myself brought here a lot of affiliates. 95% of whom were sellers. They all copied and pasted their own service description that was already there at some other marketplace.

Absolutely not! Copy/paste description is a bannable offense. Under no circumstances is copy/paste permitted. Please don't risk your account.

If you find copy/paste description, report it, don't emulate it.

Copy/paste description or title what your are telling is not allowed on seoclerks. It is really right way but you have to forgive old seller who are copy/paste others service because they didn't know about it.
Before some days ago, Seoclerks made a rules not to copy/paste other's service. It is ok. Now it will be better for active this rules for all who are new service maker, because old service makers didn't have any idea about it. Pls don't mind for my words. I am saying because i can see most of the seoclerks user are not coming forums so they don't know how to use or how to handle their seoclerks account. So, i am requesting, you & all seoclerks admin to help the sellers who don't know about it & give them alert about this matter it will be so helpful for all sellers.

Pls it is only for advice, i think it will be helpful for all. Hope you will be kind consider about this matter.

Thanks,

Just letting it be known to all of you....

Copying and pasting any type of description multiple times throughout your various listings and/or different micro job sites, is classified as duplicate/plagiarism , which has been a ground rule since the early days of the internet.

If you can't create different descriptions for your services through here and/or the through the internet world, then you may want to consider putting effort elsewhere. Having duplicate descriptions (and in my opinion, accounts) sets a precedent for your customers, your peers and other webmasters that it's ok to copy others hard work and efforts, regardless if it's your own content or not.

Be professional and bring spark to each of your services, not slack or laziness...

I have seen many sellers here who just used to copy and paste and didn't even know what the service means. That's a great move.

Ask them about their service modification or report them.

Thanks for your suggestion. Of course, we want to give new sellers a chance to offer their own services; however if they are serious about doing business, then they will need to add a unique description - otherwise, the service will be deleted.

As for the 'rules', typically most Marketplaces will have a 'no copy/paste' rule. And, it's assumed most sellers will have previous experience with other Marketplaces and understand that's not acceptable.

Copy/paste services make a site look spammy and in the end cheat the seller whose service description was stolen. It's very hard to continuously compete if another seller is stealing your content and then under-pricing you out of business for that same service.

We get constant complaints about new sellers copying descriptions from more established SEOClerks sellers and we can't just leave up the copy/paste service just to spare the new seller's feelings.

The staff works really hard with daily moderation of all new services and periodic sweeps of the Marketplace to find 'spammy' or copied/disallowed services; however there are tens of thousands of existing services and hundreds more being submitted daily. So there is a chance you will on occasion see a copied service.

If you see anything like that, feel free to hit the report button on that page.

We appreciate our members help in keeping the site spam free.

Thanks.

What about people from Bangladesh? SEOClerks is what its today just because of those people. 99% of them can't communicate in proper English. I don't think that SEOClerks should be so strict with it's sellers. Experienced buyers can tell whether a service is high quality or not right after a glance.

Let me come to all the points one after one:-

  • Write your own original service description. Never use a copy/paste from another service or site.

AaronSEO, one of the top sellers here copied and pasted Bert's description even though both were featured sellers. I don't whether Bert warned him or reported him, after that he immediately changed the description. Sellers from non-English speaking countries are very anxious to write their own description. If you never approve their service at the time they sign up here, it is most likely to turn them off to ever describe their service here again.

I myself brought here a lot of affiliates. 95% of whom were sellers. They all copied and pasted their own service description that was already there at some other marketplace. If the price of that particular service at some other marketplace and here is the same then the staff should not have any objection with it. If a seller has copied and pasted something here which is available at some other marketplace for half the price or something like that and you are suspicious that the seller looks like a reseller then only you should dismiss his/her service.

I do not at all promote the copying of a service description, it makes the original writer very angry and is not right at all. But I don't think that the admins should become so strict with them. It can make a genuine seller, not a spammer very anxious who has other ways to make money. He is very much likely to never come back to SEOClerks.

Let's not forget that SEOClerks is what it is today just because of the sellers. I believe it's the only SEO Marketplace that allowed people from third world countries so much of freedom and look where it is today.

  • Use an original photo, not trademark or copyright

I agree with this one.

  • Be creative and detailed with your service description

If a seller wants to sell his/her service as much as possible, he/she will definitely write as much creative and detailed service description as possible. But if a seller is not well-versed in writing and doesn't have enough money to pay professional writers to write for him, I don't think it is fair to disapprove his/her service.

  • Ensure your description is lengthy, more than a paragraph.

I would say the same for this as in the previous point that it should be promoted but shouldn't become a point for the disapproval.

  • Use proper spelling, punctuation and grammar and always spell check before submission

Again the same as in previous 2 points. It should be recommended but shouldn't become a point for the disapproval.

  • Don't submit a similar service as one you already have published

100% agree with this one. I have seen a lot of sellers here selling the same service at multiple different prices.

Hi Agree with your all and I understand what are you trying to persuade. But your first-line like (What about people from Bangladesh? SEOClerks is what its today just because of those people. 99% of them can't communicate in proper English) I completely disagree with these sentences. I do not say you do not show your respect rather I say it is your allegation. And you cannot say such word by targeting any Country. And this single word can hurt many peoples who working here from the beginning of SEOclerks. If anybody say like this word for your country, what about your opinion. And you do not need to mention about any seller name too. It is not showing good as well. Rather you can say some seller or some countries seller instead Bangladesh or user name.

By the way thank you very much for such details opinion
