If someone wants to hack your site bad enough, they will probably find a way to do it. All you can do is get a host that has high security standards in place; keep your forum or blog software updated with security patches and hope for the best.

Use a site or forum firewall. Also, check with your host to see what security measures they have in place that you can enact to prevent hacking. This will be the best you can do for your website.

Simple, take it offline. JK ! Where even big brother Google gets hacked several times a day, how can ANY website be secure.

It's all about how hard you make it to hack and how fast you mitigate the hack.

Code defensive and stay healthy.

securing your site starts with going into your CPanel who ever you are hosting with, you might find a picture of a lock, or look for security, and turn it on. Wordpress is having some issues with hacking lately. Always update your security software. If they offer plugins for more security, do that also. https; usually is for safe payment gateways, letting the customer know that their personal info is secure. There really isn't a site that is security hack safe, just keep in touch with your hosting and other providers for updates, and patches, and periodically, back up all your work. On site, and personal. Regularly go into your site, and if you have them, delete spammers, not all are caught with spamming protectors. Usually hacking attempts on mine, occur the same time i get spammers i have to manually delete, and I do this, because I have security set up, and my site will notify me when breach attempts. I look and match dates with members, and delete them. Some hosting offers recording of I.P logins also, for security, and can trace out the bad guys with that also, banning them.,

A couple suggestions:

1) Make sure and suppress errors; hackers can learn a lot about your application by being able to see them

2) Have good permissions set on your server for your web application; if a hacker is able to compromise a process on your server, they'll have a harder time using/accessing other folders/files

3) I don't know that https helps against hackers, except to the point that it will hide data transferred between the client and server (so that really depends on what your application is doing as to whether or not it is necessary)

there's no such thing as hackproof but you can make your site secured. Start from choosing a good hosting.
