There are some forums that have been online since the early 2000's. I don't know how these forums stay so popular for so long.
How old is your forum now? And, what are the secrets of forum longevity?

I personally believe that the key to having a forum that is open for a long time and active is to have a solid interest in what your forum is about, to have that passion to want to succeed which will then push you to work harder to see that forum become active and stay active. I have seen some people open up forums just because they wanted to say they had a forum but they had no real passion in the niche they chose, things like that are what see forums die too soon. Just recently I closed a forum that had hit 7 years old, unfortunately things didn't work out how I had planned and I really felt like the forum was dying more and more quickly as each day went by. I was very suprised to have kept it open as long as I had and it took me a lot of hard work to keep it open and keep it as active as it was.
