I would not start a gaming forum now, unless I had a passion for a specific game or type of games. The reason being, there are many more popular and successful, already established gamer forums that would win out in that fight.

We are on the same boat with gaming forums. You can kill me instead of forcing me to start up a forum about Minecraft or Dota. I have to admit that I am not into gaming and my knowledge is almost zero although I have had the experience of playing some interactive games before, just for experience though. I would surely be lost in the discussion if I am the admin of a gaming forum.

This might sound like common sense, but don't start a forum based on how much money you think you will earn or because someone else started that specific type of forum. This will be the hardest niche to break into because you do not have the personal interest needed to sustain your forum long enough to succeed.

A medical niche might be the hardest niche to get into as there are already many others and if you don't have actual expertise (such as medical degree), then you will mostly be relying on opinions rather than fact.

These types of forums or blogs are helpful to a lot of people however, many are way too reliant on them. Individuals have a tendency to "Self Diagnose" their own health concerns, which can end up being a very disastrous outcome for themselves or others. I have several family members who consistently try to diagnose themselves and others in the family through the internet. This causes unnecessary stress and can further make the questionable condition worse. Sometimes the constant worry can amplify symptoms, making them unbearable to deal with.

I enjoy reading about people's experiences in regards to their health, and what they have done to overcome the obstacles. People feel better when they have support from others online and offline. It provides them with a sense of companionship and it makes them aware they are not alone. It's good to have articles written about conditions and what they are... but for after they are properly diagnosed.

For as many honest people there are online; there are just as enough dishonest one, who you cannot trust.
I feel there's way too much of a fine line there, in relation to having a "Medical Experts" forum...

A forum that encourages members to post personal experiences about a specific issue or situation such as divorce or relationships is always a good thing as it differs from the q&a type site/blogs already out there.

I would not start a forum about webmaster topics as there are thousands already available with more than enough topics to entertain members and if someone is looking for that type of information they will usually go to a well established not new forum.

Admin forum is another heavily saturated niche but new forums like this are opening all the time. I don't know what new things anyone can say in that niche that has not already been said on much more established admin forums.
