Any type of criminal activity such as attempted hacking would be a good reason to fire a staff member, whatever their position as you don't want that type of behavior to be going on at your site. It will cost you members if anyone finds out you knew and did nothing to stop it.

If I want someone else in the job more than that person and the original mod isn't doing the job I want, then I might fire them. But I would do it nicely or at least assign another job than mod or admin.

Maybe you just don't need two admins or two forum mods as your forum membership has decreased. Often, you will need to adjust your site staff based on your current needs.

I agree with Hunter. Or sometimes once the forum has picked up and you get better at managing your time you are finding out you can do more so you do not need the extra help.

Starting a forum can be a very stressful time and you need all the help you get. But once things settle down and become routine, there's not much a full staff can do, unless there are hundreds of daily posts. An average sized forum wouldn't need excess staff.

Another possible reason to let an admin or mod go would be for the situation where you are simply shutting down your forum. That would not be the staff's fault but it does happen.

First reason is the availability. When the admin or mod have been away from the forum for a week and with no valid excuse for his unavailability then it is time to go. When the forum official commits an infraction on the board like causing an unnecessary argument or even flaming. Causing an exodus of members thru his action or inaction. It’s really alarming when members start to leave because of the admin or the mod. Those are just some in my list and there are more.

If the admin or mod isn't doing his job right and people/members are complaining already. Also if he doesn't answer relevant questions with relevant answers then that means he doesn't know what his doing or is not really interested in his job.
