    Do you offer a new member welcome message?

    On many forums I have joined, it's customary for a new welcome message to automatically be sent to the member inbox. Is this something you practice on your forum, offering a new member welcome message? And, do you think it actually gets read by the new member or makes them feel welcome? What type of information do you include in your welcome message?

    These welcome messages are common for most forums and usually include links to relevant posts such as forum rules, signature line rules, etc.

    I don’t read such emails because I know that the welcome message is automatically generated. It has no value to me. But there was one forum that the admin sent me a private message that looked personalized because my name is inside the body of the message. That kind of personally written welcome has great value that I repay by staying and posting in the forum.
