Why would a site not show up?

If you have had your site indexed, what are some reasons why it may not be showing up in the search engines?

May be Google Dance, other form of google search update, maybe you somehow blocked search engines (this happened to me) or you got sandboxed for various reasons.

I have an experience about this. The site does not show up. I have learned later on that this site was banned because they are fake or scammers.

If you didn`t find your website searching for your website domain name, you got sandboxed

I think you may have violated a policy of Google when your website does not appear in the search result. You can also try checking on other search engines for the ranking of your website. If it appears there then there is a high probability that your site is under suspension for a possible violation. One friend who experienced this had a violation of putting in too many keywords on his web pages.
