Two new features have been released today: the ability to follow users and sticky user info. The ability to follow a user is the first part of more features to come which will allow sellers to communicate with their loyal buyers/followers by sending newsletters, alerts on new gigs, status updates, etc.
The second feature is a sticky user info popup which appears whenever you hover over a users name. It also contains the "follow" and "unfollow" button of a user.
This site is just keeps getting better :p

Nicely done Jordan. Keep up the great work. Hopefully soon you'll implement all those other epic features you mentioned above. :D

Eventually, yes. Users have the option to opt-out of follower updates in the settings area but by default they will get an email upon new services added (but not updates). I say eventually because this is not yet completed.
There will also be user blogs where you can post your own blog content which your followers will get updates for.
You'll be able to send a message out to your followers as well (thinking of having a limit of once per 7 days to avoid spamming - thoughts?).
And there will also be status updates that you can post your current status (much like twitter) in your profile (this may be used in conjunction with the above to send out notices, unsure of this ATM).
About the messaging, yes, once per 7 days sounds about right. Last thing you want is lots of messages from the same person everyday about he same gig, lol
